I've had a 60-140 point rise in the last 6 weeks depending on the CRA , and I'm keen to finally get a card after a long rebuilding process, but I'm curious how frequently the prequalification checks on the various sites are updated. Presumably they don't do a soft pull every time I check a given site, right?
I've been prequalified for a CapOne QS1 or Platinum for a while, but I'm hoping I can jump into a real quicksilver or maybe even a Venture?
That's a good question. I know for awhile I was checking pre-qualifiers like crazy, but when I checked my credit reports it didn't have as many SPs as I would have thought I'd have had they SP'd me every time I did the pre-qualifier. So maybe they use the same SP for awhile; like 2-4 weeks? I'm not really sure.
That is a really tough question in terms of putting an exact time on it. What I can tell you is that a few days after apping and being approved for two Cap 1 cards, they no longer have me pre qualified for any products and only have "we think you would like ...". And it now only has the prestige and Venture one since I got the Venture and QS.

I think this is true. I noticed that my sp's don't come near as many times as I've pre-qualified or hit that luv button.

One month after your approval date you will be prequalified again. Unless you're at their max 5 cards. OP, that is a good question and really hard to pinpoint.
This depends on the credit card company... Some companies will SP you, but not usually.. It appears that they most likely get fed a file they buy from the CB's and/or MyFico and load into their system(cheaper than SP's) based on certain credit criteria the issuers is seeking and most likely such file would be loaded each month is my guess.
Varies by creditor like many things. Don't assume that all creditors are identical on matters like this. If you want to verify you can pull your own reports and look at the SP's.
Good question!! i wonder if AMEX will show pre-quals for me afte my Ch7 5 yr mark in october
My experience from looking at my reports and being opted back in for a couple months now....
Cap 1 does a SP almost every time I check the prequal site. With Chase, I've never found a SP on any of my reports though they do give me prequal offers, and I've seen the offers get better (APR rate) as my reports have updated with baddies falling off over the past couple months. So I think for me, Chase is getting my report info some other way than via a SP.
