I was told that Target is doing upgrade letter this month.

Has anyone received one yet?

@Anonymous if you look in the Approvals subforum, there's been quite a few members who have received the CLI/upgrade recently.

When did your Target Store Card Upgrade or CLI?

I have a target store card (TD Bank) at $300 CL for not very long, maybe a year. But I haven't received any automatic CL increases. It's paid at $0 now. I was just curious for anyone here has the store card, when did they increase your limit? And when will they upgrade to the Target MasterCard? I'm not in a rush but it is an ultimate goal card of mine.

They never upgraded my store card, but they did increase it from $300 initial to a whopping $1000.00

I only used it like three times. It has been in the sock drawer a long time. Probably just let them close it for lack of use.

@M_Smart007

How long before they increased it?

If I remember correctly, it was like 6-8 months. I heard it can help if you carry a small balance and pay it off.

Also to update your Income on the website. All probably a YMMV type of thing.

I have had mine for over a year not CLI, stuck at $500. 🤷🏽‍♂️

Re: When did your Target Store Card Upgrade or CLI?

@kittycreditmeow the Target card is one of the most YMMV cards out there. TD Bank decides if and when you get an increase (there is no request system), and a MasterCard upgrade is most definitely "if", not "when". I've had my card 5-1/2 years and have had a series of increases from $300 SL to current $4200 CL. Still not a whiff of the MC upgrade. I've done the monthly use and PIF, monthly use and carry a balance, no use, you name it. They're as batty as Disco when trying to discern a pattern. Just use it and be responsible and hopefully the increases will come.

Have had mine for a little over a year...SL of $2500 and has remained unchanged since opening. I put about $100-$150 a month on it and PIF...highest balance for any statement period was about $300 once or twice.

Re: When did your Target Store Card Upgrade or CLI?

I've had my target card since late 2017. Started off at $500 then increased slightly to $800 then to $1600 about two years later. Then randomly 3 months or so after that it went to $3300. Then along came January 2021 and I got a nice little letter saying I was getting the upgrade to the MC version in March (if I still played nicely and kept making payments) and an increase to $6000 immediately. Supposed to be officially upgraded on March 22, 2021 and the new card about 10 days after that. We shall see.

As far as my usage- I've done no use, charge and pay off, charge and leave a balance... no rhyme or rhythm to them it seems.

Good luck in your quest.

My DPs are likely a little dated since I've had my card since 2002 and it was converted to a Visa (along with a CLD down to $800, actually) a few lenders ago around 2005, and the MasterCard change was from Visa and not the store card when TD Bank bought the accounts maybe 5 years ago.  No CLIs until 2016, 14 years after opening the account, but then they were pretty steady every 6 months for a while, dried up, and then I got another $500 a few months back.  It's at $10,800 now so it's fine for my needs.

The CLIs finally came for me after using the card every month, letting the statement balance report, and paying in full every month.  I used to update income (even to same amount) once a month on their website as well as that seemed to also have some anecdotal evidence of helping, but haven't in a while.
