How long for AMEX's Oasis program?

Back in February I got a letter for the Oasis program, tore it up and thought they are crazy if they want me to go back to them. Was late on the green card. They sent my blue and green card to collections. Green was paid off before collections and was disputed with the CA. The blue card, I had been late a few times on but never 30 days late. The blue card is not reporting as a collection, but current. So anyway, I just spent since January paying $4k off the blue card. It is paid in full as of the 15th. After reading the forums and thinking about it, I have been advised to get back into Amex's good graces through the Oasis program. SO, what to do now?

How long does it take for them to offer it? Should I call them and let them know I had an offer and misplaced it earlier this year? Is it a hard inquiry into your credit report when you apply? Thanks!

Scores are TU - 637 Ex - 607 and EQ - 590 (has the green card as a 120 day late pay/collection/$0 balance. Currently disputing that as TU and EX are reporting paid collection/ $0 balance.

Call the number 866-462-5235. It is worth it. I took advantage of the offer.

Results vary, but I think Oasis is well worth pursuing.

Re: How long for AMEX's Oasis program?

As far as the timeframe, lemme tell you this.

It takes two weeks for the application to get to you.  And once you send in the application and it is received the usual 7-10 days for processing.

Make sure you get the application sent out, they send out applications not just the card.  You also have to get the offer from the outside agency (if your account was assigned to one).

Re: How long for AMEX's Oasis program?

Well I tried calling again earlier this week and no dice. I still couldn't get anyone to help me, even with the number posted. They sent me to a dozen other numbers and finally I said forget about it.They even sent me to two different overseas people (could tell because they had foreign accents and phone sounded different. Plus they were yelling a foreign tongue and then heard in english my name and and ss#. He just gave me another number to call after passing me to the guy he was yelling at.  I did get one woman at AMEX who did call me back because she got called into the legal department and she said Nationwide should be enrolling me in  the program because I qualify. However, each time they sent me to Nationwide it was what, huh, mam your account is not showing up in this office. Funny have checks from my checking account showing paid to Nationwide. The blue card shows agency remittance on it with my payments. So I don't know how they don't know who the heck I am. So, I paid it off on the 15th. I will see if I get a letter. If not, forgettta about it. I am more interested them in deleting a negative tradeline than actually getting the card. I was going to sock drawer it. bah humbug.  If I don't hear anything in a month or so,I will GW them to delete the collection. Waiting to make sure that the blue card doesn't show up now that it is paid off even though they told me it wouldn't. Oh and I was able to make extra payments online to AMEX during the collection for the blue card, so I don't know if that made a difference or not.

Try these numbers, if you haven't already.

Be persistent and nice. The program seems to have come under different names at different times. Tell them you believe you have an old defaulted AMEX CC, and you wanted to see about a program whereby AMEX will issue an Optima CC once the balance is PIF.

Re: How long for AMEX's Oasis program?

I sure it's maddening trying to deal with the CA as well as with AmEx, but if there were any equivalent program that would help me get some of my lates off, I would grin and grin and grin until my cheek muscles froze up, if that's what it took.

To both get the history, AND clean up the record? Easy decision to me! good luck

Re: How long for AMEX's Oasis program?

I have not received any such offer from AMEX, however I had an AMEX green card 13 years ago which defaulted. Would I be able to participate in the program or do I have to wait for the offer?

Re: How long for AMEX's Oasis program?

Definitely. Call the Amex Oasis and ask them to look up. If you pay the complete amount that you defaulted they will give you an Amex Optima with 50% of the defaulted amount. It is worth it. I took advantage of it and I should be getting my card soon. If you search for Oasis in the messages you should find the phone number for Amex Oasis Program. Go for it.
