I use my Capital One card to keep my socks from getting lonely. That's how I use mine...
My suggestion is if you get one immediately apply for a second and save yourself the second hard inquiry. I applied for a QS1 around 4 weeks post Chapter 13 discharge and was able to get a card with a $3,000 CL. After being a member on this board and seeing a lot of members having success getting two cards back to back I decided to try the QS card (I received a mailer). I took my shot and received a QS card at another $3,000 limit. Unfortunately, I was dinged again with another hard inquiry since it was 4 weeks later. I know the 2 nd unsecured card with a $3,000 limit will more than make up for the hard inquiry when it reports. However, if I only had some more knowledge at the time I could have saved a few points on my Fico Score.

What do you think my chances are of getting Venture over QS? Is that out of the realm of possibilities?
I don't think a Venture is real possibility when you have a secured Capital One and a FIngerhut crad. May not even be able to get a Quicksilver in that situation.
