In person or online? I'll be closing on my house in 2 weeks and want to prepare on applying to Lowes (among other cards). Is there a better chance of approval either way?? Also, I'm worried about all the inquiries of seeking a mortgage. There are 10 inquiries on my report and I don't know how "strict" GE can be - anyi input on how to proceed with Lowes or any other card will really be helpful.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
Apply in store. You'll get a higher initial credit limit on approval. I wouldn't worry too much about inquiries if you already have accounts with GE. I had 32 on TU and EQ when I applied in store and was approved for 1200 instantly. I then had the cashier call and ask for double the amount and approved instantly for 2400. I was also about 20 months post
Ch7 BK when I applied. Good luck.
I did mine online. I was approved for around $1500. Called and had it doubled to $3k. A year later it sits at $10k.
In store if you don't know us here and the backdoor number to do it yourself
Just apply online... when approval screen pops up pick up the phone and call into credit solutions and say I was just approved for $3k and I just closed on my house, I was hoping for $20k thinking about a new kitchen and I would hate to go to Home Depot! (jk you don't have to say all that but I would ask for $20k!!!) might take 5-10-even 15 minutes but they will come back and say either 1. It's been APPROVED. or 2. We can't do $20k at this time but I could do $14,600 would that be okay?!
Thanks everyone for the great input. I think i'm going with the online application and using the backdoor # as a follow up. THANK YOU!
What bank is Lowes under? I've had my Home Depot card for nearly 4 years under Citi with one increase in CLI from $1000 to $1300.

might be time to take the HP if they need it and ask for BIG increase.... they are known to be as good or better sometimes then GE about giving HUGE increases... they just sometimes take a HP to do so if not done when approved... it's not ALWAYS a HP, you can try the button online... if you get the whole form larger then income and rent/mortgage you are probably looking at HP and put in large large figure... otherwise don't even think it asks you how much you want and that is SP.
I applied today online, called in to verify current address and was approved for $900. Called back (after reading all the great info here) to ask ask for $2500. Placed on hold for a minute... approved. I think I have a new friend in Lowes! LOL
Congrats on the approval and the new home!!
