I bit the bullet and applied for a store card

I applied in stores for a Bealls credit card, got approved $250...not much but its a start. I feel a little guilty, only supposed to apply for credit needed..

yes it is my only store card.  Have HSBC Creditone, 1stPremier-yuk, and cc from credit union.

don't feel guilty then, this will really help you with mix and a store that will probably increase frequently (wffb is usually pretty good)

Store card is a good idea for you then. One is enough for FICO.

Garden that card and you will see your FICOs improve over time.

Well, we have "needed" someone to test out getting the first store card to see what scoring effect there might be, so you might be our guinea pig volunteer!

I hope that you have recent FICO EQ and TU scores without the card that you can compare to new scores after it reports! --I can't remember if you're one of our compulsive score pullers, like me.

thanks everyone!  and yes I am a compulsive score puller.  Every morning by 7:30 I pull my credit check total just to keep an eye on my accounts!

Nice work!  Glad you bit the bullet!!  And I'm glad someone else admits to pulling CCT first thing every morning - it's a good wake up for the day (especially if accompanied by one of those little Dove chocolates).    I like store cards because they can have a habit of growing nicely - at least I hope mine does - and yours too.

I really hope you have FICO's available - we need the information regarding how this new TL effects your score badly!
