I had discover years ago. in my opinion, they sucked. gave me a limit of 4k when all the other cards I had were over 10k.
I know Discover is one company that you don't do this with, or until you established a trade line with them over the yrs. They are very conservative. Sorry to hear.
my parents have had their discover for almost 30 years and never asked for a cli its at $10,000 now and it was my dads first cc with no credit history back in 1981 they like their card the only downside is that they decreased their 1% on everything else to 0.25% for the first $3,000 then its 1% and their 5% categories have very low spending caps versus chase freedom 5% caps and freedom is 1% on everything else without a minimum spending limit

FYI, Discover was founded in 1985, and was originally introduced by Sears, who was trying to expand its financial services business. It became an independent company in 2007. IIRC, it was the only card other than a Sears store card that Sears stores accepted. It was one of my first cards as well, and I still have it. It has a 15.5K CL which hasn't changed since the mid 90's.

LOL wow. maybe the old one just is for show and doesnt work no more... and its easy to forget dates that old i supose
I'm a bit underwhelmed with Discover as well. I started up in March with a $1k limit as well. My third statement just posted - no CLI still, this month I got a whopping $3 and change of cash back despite putting nearly $2k through it, and I still haven't gotten my sign up bonus for St Patrick's day. I'm half tempted to go with my plan B and grab a Zync to get some history with Amex, then move up to Blue Cash. The tiered spending just sucks with Discover. I put $1200 through my card on average per month, but a lot of it is "ineligible" purchases such as Walmart, Kroger, etc. that are considered as discount stores. At this rate, it'll take me another couple of months to even start getting 1%.
