Weird thing is when I log off my chase freedom account it has an advertisement from chase promoting using the freedom 5% for amazon and GC's from amazon!
I guess that's good.. the only thing is that.. i dont know if i should really do that.. since i have sallie mae, when i have to buy something from amazon, i can simply use that card.. also 5%.. ugh.. not sure what to do..
5 UR > 5% if you ever plan to use them for travel, especially when you get a transfer card. Otherwise, doesn't matter
I still don't view 5UR > 5% even if one day i get the CSP.. and the reason why is that I don't need to fly with first class ever.. I always get ticket of economy coach.. So even if i transfer the UR points to the ticket that I need.. i still consider myself "lose" money.. I could use my cash back cards to get cash back and buy a economy coach ticket.. which, for example, requires 500,000 spending on fidelity amex.. (suppose its 1000 value ticket for an international one way fight to asia).. i would have to spend around 900,000 (considering some would earn 2 UR on 1 dollar) to get the same amount of points.. and yes, the points are worth more than 1:1.. but the first class ticket is sooo expensive.. then my UR points earned from 900,000 spending wouldn't be enough to cover that ticket.. so i consider myself lose..
forgive me that my logic is not very clear..
Here is an idea for CSP usage , its not as easy anymore as it used to be since chase lost korean air as an partner. You could probably transfer to United to fly one of their partners. I have been looking at this exact thing for my next trip to asia. 85k may be your best bet to fly one of the star alliance partners of UAL to Asia. Another option is using BA as partner with CSP to fly to hong kong Non stop on cathay i think its 70k RT on economy with 239 surcharge.
There are options out there on using points to fly , but you just have to do research finding the best values.
With all that being said after research i found using AA miles was best value for me to fly to thailand via hkg. 110k miles business on cathay.

That combo seems great for travel points. I'm going to have to put my top card for 2015 the CSP.

I am actually an bit down on chase and UR program because of the way they dropped korean air with no notice. I am starting to actually lean towards citi premeir of all cards. I hae to do much more research to decide though.

I am just really not understanding the CSP... I guess I will never do until one day I have the card.. If I ever will have it
You just have to look at partners they can trasnfer to that where the big value of the card comes to. BA to cathay is the most effecient use of points but its probably the best way to get from US to HKG the easiest with the least amount of fuss since its an direct flight. I am still contemplating if i want to put most of my spending on UR because the amount of partners is really limited now. i am leaning on putting more spending on combo of airline cards and EDP.
If you plan on getting the card i would try and understand the intricacies of getting good value from points, because to be honest its not worth much as an cash back card. I will probably keep one UR points redeeming card for now. What i am debating is whether the citi premeir is worth the 125 AF for 3x dining card for travel card. The thing is i don't know if its worth it since there are an lot of airlines that overlap with MR
Didnt the 5% on Amazon end on the 14th? I thought we were in the Jan-Mar 2015 category now... I could be wrong though.

It should be going till end of the year, i thnk the 14th date is the last day you can signup for the 4q 5% category.

Oh wow.. So if people received their cards later.. They don't get to sign up.. I was close.. But maybe I don't get a chance to use it at all
This is for 4th quarter sign up, so if you receive it after Dec 14, you are losing at most 2.5 weeks. Chase sign up is pretty generous, others don't let you sign up much after the period begins, this is 2.5 months!
