Input Please on Applying via the Phone Barclaycard

I know that the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard for fair credit is no longer available to apply for online but three different times I have called Barclays to inquire about this card and they are literally unaware of the fact that it has been removed online and claim that it is still available to apply for over the phone. The problem I have with them is they quickly say, "So let's start this application for you now." I said that I wanted to be clear that we were talking about the same card since they have other cards with the "reward" name in it and I don't want to risk applying for the wrong card (my credit report might not hold up but I didn't tell them that part). They again, talking real fast pressure me to start the application. I worry they are going too fast and may make mistakes with my app or, they don't care and would try to push an app for the Barclaycard Rewards MasterCard, find out it's not available and then try for another one without me knowing. What do you think?

Just have them read you the benefits of the card etc to make sure that it's correct.

Any reason why you're aiming for the Barclay Rewards card? Whats your credit profie/score looking like? Perhaps you may qualify for other cards depending on your profile. IMO, I'd past on the barclay starter card, especially if you're going thru this hassle (and sketchy phone apps).

I only have have one open revolving acct with a $200 credit line that is 13 months old with Open Sky. I have 2-3% ulitization on Open Sky. My fico is not bad but if EX gets pulled it has a paid CO water bill that reported 21 times the acct was 180-days late (yikes). Last late was 1 year and 7 months ago.

EX: Fico 680. Open Sky excellent payment history. Paid CO. 1 inquiry over a year ago.

TU: Fico 670. Open Sky excellent payment history. Paid CO $92 will age off in 1-month. Paid state tax lien in 2019. No inquiries.

EQ: Fico 687. Open Sky excellent payment history. Dismissed BR will fall off in 1-no. Paid tax lien will fall off in 2019. No inquiries.

Your scores are good, profile thin with just the one account. To be honest, I'd just give Discover it or Amex blue cash a shot. In my opinon, I think they're more forgiving with baddies in the past. Ditch the barclays rewards card idea though, you'll likely close it in a year or two
