Is 5 requests in 1 day too much?

Ok so I am at a place where I am not sure the best direction to go.

I apped for the CSP on 4/01/2014 so 10/02/2014 was the plan. By that time, I would have 4 inquires fall off which would put me at:

Eq - 4 inquiries

Ex - 2 inquires

TU - 2 inquiries

I planned to wait until the 2nd of October to use a hard pull for CLI for my Citi Forward Card and my Discover Card. I am also currently interested in the Amex Blue Cash Preferred (for Groceries, Department Stores, 3x CLI and backdating) and/0r the Fidelity Amex (To replace Venture when the annual fee comes up.) I have no current AMEX credit cards. I have been waiting for my last APP to reach 6 months before I apply for anything.

The other move I was thinking about was that have a balance of 5k at 0% for 12 mo from a balance transfer check on my Sallie Mae WMC which is my favorite card which makes it unusable until I pay it off. Everything else is at 0. This puts my total Utilization at about 10%.

Should I consider the Chase Slate card to free up the Sallie Mae?

5 requests for credit seems like a lot at one time to me. Thoughts?

Current scores are:

Eq: 707

EX: 741

TU: 740

Why use a HP for Citi? Their website makes it very clear whether they will use a hard or soft pull for a CLI request, and at least for me it usually shows SP (even if I'm not actually eligible for a CLI). You'll have to wait a minimum of 6 months between requests to be successfull, if I recall correctly, but I've never had to use a HP to get a CLI on my Forward.

Well I think my 6 months ends on that day so I plan to try for the soft pull. You're right the hp might not be necessary. Thanks for the reminder

I would use a Citi hard pull for the Double Cash instead of CLI on Forward. I think it comes with 0% for 12 months? I would ask Cap1 to PC Venture to Quicksilver with no AF. 5 apps isnt too bad but just plan to garden for a good 6 months to avoid AA afterwards.

I would PC to qs first. And do some more research on double cash if you really feels its necessary if you have quicksilver, most people on here say it is I disagree, in my situation I feel its an side grade at best over quicksilver.I wouldn't waste an HP on it but that's me

Re: Is 5 requests in 1 day too much?

I plan to use 4 cards.

Forward Visa Sig: for 5% on restaurants and entertainment.

Sallie Mae WMC: for 5% on gas, Amazon, and Walmart/Target

Amex Bcp: for 6% on groceries 3%department stores and 3% on gas after I hit Sallie Mae 250 cap.

Fidelity Amex: for general spend/bills

Are you saying I should do Citi Double Cash instead?

Re: Is 5 requests in 1 day too much?

I threw the Double Cash out there because Citi is unpredictable with CLI requests even with a hard pull. Now I see you have your spend pretty well laid out including the Forward, so I think your original plan is good. What will you be using Discover for?

Re: Is 5 requests in 1 day too much?

Online shopping/portals and rotating categories for ex. 5 percent on department stores for the fourth quarter is better than amex bcp.
