JCPenny

I have to say, JCPenny is probably my most rewarding credit card. They have quality merchandise and then to have a lot of sales. Plus there are usually other offers that can be stacked on top of most of the sale pricing. I bought $478.00 worth of merchandise there today. I paid $303.70 after the sale prices and 25% off friends and family discount. And then I got $50.00 in bonus cash. Plus I get rewards by using my JCP card. Not bad at all! Granted you don't need their card to get some of these discounts but the extras definately help.

Re: JCPenny

To each their own. Might I suggest a cashback rewards card that can be used more places than only the one retail store?

Good for you!   Glad you're getting good use out of JCP.  They've been instrumental in my rebuild, so I'm always happy to see JCP success.

I really don't understand what it is about store cards that generates the kneejerk reaction against them.   While certainly not all store cards are created equal, many of them offer generous rewards programs, discounts, special financing offers, and other perks (such as Walmart's "cash-over" feature) that aren't always available on cash back major CCs.    If a store card fits well into your profile, great!   If not, great!   But it's always good to have CCs that fit your needs.  Just keep in mind that not everyone has the same needs.

Totally agree. I just believe in diversification.

Excellent point.  While I think store cards can be very useful, I always get a bit nervous when I read about members that have a lot of CCs issued by any one lender.  But while this is common with store cards from Comenity or SyncB, even Chase and AMEX can do it (granted, they at least tend to have measures in place to prevent overexposure, but that might be more for their benefit than yours).   If one lender decided to take AA, recovery can be quite difficult, if they make up a lot of your available credit.

Anyway, I may be pulling too much away from OPs original topic, which was the benefits of their JCP card.  To me, this is evidence that the OP made a great decision on this particular card and hopefully other members will thoroughly look into making good CC decisions when considering cards to acquire.

Re: JCPenny

I have a couple of rewards cards but I just find that the JCP card has some pretty good benefits. Realistically, I didn't spend that much and now I'm looking at $50.00 that I can go in and use this week. Plus I'll end up getting rewards in the mail.

Re: JCPenny

I had a JCP card and took it to platinum quickly. It was a great card. I ended up too far away from a Jcp and closed the account. Of course they came out with a MC right after that......

Rite Aid still accepts JCP cards for payment; CVS used to up until this July.    There's always JCP internet orders, too...
