Jumped the gun on AMEX CLI...

So I jumped the gun...4 days too early for my second 180 day CLI. It was declined of course and after chatting with the CSR it was due to it being less than 6 months from the last approved CLI. They couldn't answer whether or not it would go through on the 15th or if I would have to wait 90 days from today.

Anyone have any experience in this situation? Do I have to wait 90 days from today, or will it work on the 15th (which marks 180 from last approved)?

Wait 4 days and try again

Good luck

Before you app think...
Have you done your research of the CC?
Does it fit your spending?
Do you have a plan for the bonus w/o going into debt?
Can you afford the AF?
Do you know the cards benefits? Is it worth the HP?

From what I have heard and understand, unfortunately, you are likely SOL and have to wait 90 days from today. Maybe someone can chime in with a different answer but I believe the 180 days from approval is pretty firm and 90 days from denial also pretty firm.

Re: Jumped the gun on AMEX CLI...

As MyJourney pointed out jumping the gun does nothing and you are ok... Try again when you reach 180 days, the clock doesn't reset if you try early only if declined after eligible being after time frame has been met.

They are fine if they tried to early, it doesn't reset the clock to 90 days.. If they are denied once they hit the 180 day or eligible time frame then they must wait 90 days from then to try again

I agree, exactly correct.  From personal experience I did this on my Delta early by a day or two, when I recalculated and tried again on the correct day I received a 3x CLI no problemo...

Re: Jumped the gun on AMEX CLI...

At any rate try in 4 days. 94 days vs 90 days if you are wrong...

From my understanding the 90 day rule is still applicable. Best of luck!

Edit: I went back and re-read the rules. If you are denied for it being to early than the 90 day rule does not apply. Next time, I would save yourself the hassle and stress and simply wait until your 180 days is up. See you around the forum!
