Kay Jewelers Data Points

I'm going to be applying for a Kay Jewelers Card next month for an engagement ring and will need to finance about $2700 after I put about $1000 down and I'm hoping they will approve me for at least that.

I was wondering for those that currently have this card:
What were your scores at time of approval/denial
What baddies did you have in your reports
What was your SL at approval
Did the item you were trying to purchase have an influence on your SL

Re: Kay Jewelers Data Points

I applied last weekend only because I head this card has large limits. I'm rebuilding and wanted to increase my available amount. I was denied. I have several old charge offs and other negatives but I've been getting some meager approvals lately so I thought I might have a shot. My co-worker, who has some baddies and similar scores to mine, got $2,500.

Re: Kay Jewelers Data Points

they don't care what you're trying to buy. they run your credit and tell you what you're approved for and then you need to do the 20% down for the 0%
um my file was limited when i got mine. idr my scores but only had a year old $500 card, a year old $100 LOC and a $1,500 freedom but i got it the same month so idk if it was reported yet. this was november 2011 and i was like 20 and didn't know much about credit. i was approved for $2,400 and after paying off the ring it went up to $3,200 and now is at $5,300

What's your scores? Are the charge offs paid? And we're you trying to buy anything or just applying for it

Re: Kay Jewelers Data Points

Would it be better for me to apply before or after my 5 year car loan is paid off and closed next month? I have no other installment loans on reports

Re: Kay Jewelers Data Points

I have no recent experiance with them, but in 1999 I had almost no credit and they approved me for a card. No idea the limit, but I charged about $800 and paid it off. 10-years later in 2009 I had horrible credit. As in no open accounts, only collections and charge offs, and repos etc. I applied online thinking yeah right and I was shocked I was instantly approved for $2,000 limit. I never ended up using it, they closed it 2 years later for inactivity. It could have been because they remembered me from before, and also it is possible times have changed, but my experiance from then was this was a super easy card to get.
