Interesting article from Fiyer Talk on how people, particularly millenials, don't care so much about loyalty progams, letting airline, hotel, and, GASP!, credit card points expire...
half of adults polled admitted to leaving rewards to expire—and the biggest group to leave fruit on the vine were millennials.
The young professionals—aged between 23 and 38—have left more hotel points, airline miles and credit card rewards linger than the generations behind them. The study results suggest 44% of millennials let credit card rewards expire, half allowed airline miles to expire and 57% let their hotel points disappear.
Less usage probably means better offers for the rest of us.

Unfortunately, not a zero-sum game! Consider all the recent benefit nerfing from Mastercard, based on the claim that the benefits were used by very few (and those that did abused). If the issuers determine that rewards really aren't needed to keep customers, and those that care abuse, well easy to abolish!
I'm totally not like the other millennials I guess. 🤷♂️
It's probably just lower amounts that they can't quite redeam though, right? I mean if you're not using them at all, why even bother apping a rewards card?

We've seen people here (who presumably are more knowledgable and movitated) getting a card that they find they can't really use. So it seems quite likely you have people who apply for a credit card, use it some, but not really notice or care about the rewards.
