Interesting @CreditCuriosity ...if you remember, please share.

@RickNATL It was actually BCU (Baxster Credit Union).  Just remembered.  Found it strange and been with them over a year and have one CC with them.  Was it an account review?  Maybe it was for a job but certainly strange.

Re: LinkedIn profile accessed during application process...

@CreditCuriosity definitely don't have any accounts with them, nor applied for a job. Their LI profile is also vague...

Has a bank/CU ever access your LinkedIn Profile during an application?

NASA FCU accessed my LinkedIn profile...first time seeing this.

I had read a thread or three somewhere with in the past year about how the X1 card issuer was stalking it's users on social media and I think I remember LinkedIn being mentioned as well. I believe it was reddit, but no amount of keyword searching is bringing it up.

You don't have to be Premium to get the notifications. This person didn't update their privacy to not show a name.  Or it might be a default that anyone in underwriting uses.  Who knows.

@RickNATL thanks for the clarification.

Re: LinkedIn profile accessed during application process...

@Windchill92 you can definitely cut down what a non-connection can see; under Settings, then "visibility"...including what can be searched or seen via a search (google, etc.) to include show/no show your photo, current or past experience, degrees, etc.

Re: LinkedIn profile accessed during application process...

Yeah I know I can adjust my profile’s Public page (i.e. indexed by search engines) to those not logged in…

I was referring to adjusting visibility to logged-in non-connections. When cruising through the My Network page, some distant (3+ order) connections I can’t even view their profile b/c either we’re too far network-wise or they’ve disabled/limited viewing. Would be nice to limit viewing, but I know LinkedIn wouldn’t like this.

@Windchill92 I had not looked into that.

So there is a belief that linkedin profiles are a trusted source?  Probably not for the real bad actors!
