Just like any new TL, the effect to your cr will be a ding to your AAOA. If approved through the sp, there is not an additional hp on your cr.

anyone have any luck with the cruiseone mastercard?  I really dont want a bunch of store cards.  more interested in regular mastercard/visa but dont want the HP

I tried via shopping cart trick:

J. Crew-approved for $750 accepeted raised to $1050 3 mths later

Buckle-approved for $700 accepted

Sportsman's Guide-approved for $2000 accepted

VS-approved $750 did not take

Total Rewards Visa-approved (after 3 months) of trying $1000 accepted

Onestop approved $750 did not take.

How did you do the total rewards visa to work?

Same method as the other cards. If you get a pop up then your pre-approval information is listed. If not, then there's no pre-approval.

When should you expect it to pop up? Do you complete the purchase and then look for the pop up? I dont think im going far enough. Or maybe my credit isnt as good as i thought.

It depends, if you have an existing profile with that merchant, then it can display at anytime you're signed in or as you load your cart or when you check out.  Otherwise, IIRC as a guest (i.e. no profile), it would normally display as you advance toward the payment screen.  If it doesn't "pop" then there's no pre-approval.

Excellent tip about the sportsman guide visa card!  I added about $800 of merchandise in my cart, and the membership... preapproval popped right up.. accepted the offer and it took me to the check out page with the CC info pre-filled in.  I removed all items and closed out.  I assume that means my limit will be AT LEAST $850.
