Looking at it from a neutral standpoint, and while the word disaster can be used by different people in various contexts (mainly semantics here). I would equate a disaster as Macy's servers crashing and no one being able to check balances, account information, transactions not being honored or registers offline, Macy's AmEx cards getting declined elsewhere, online purchases being declined, someone taking my favorite coat from my hands and running off... in other words a catastrophe or... disaster or big mess.
So, Involver has a valid point in thinking how CreditAddict's expectations yielded a disaster. But the point is moot since the issue was resolved and while you love his stories and rants, some individuals don't see it as a disaster. An annoying inconvenience perhaps? ![]()

Possibly Fin...but, we arent disecting this. People can feel how they want to feel, and choose the words they want to describe a situation thats inadvertanly caused them pain in some way.
If CA felt it was a disaster, it was a disaster. Others may think differently...but regardless...we love when CA posts, because its not too often anymore, and I respect his wisdom here, as I do yours. Now.....fork over the Cartier card, and noone gets hurt ![]()

I think Mia checked it out to see who backed the card (TD Bank IIRC) but I don't recall if she has one. They do have some really nice things there that would make you all tingly and pucker at the same time!

@NRB525 wrote:So you are trying to add an AU to a $49k limit card? For myself, if someone were to try to add an AU to any of my cards, I'd think it's a good idea for the issuer to go through a little more verification, to ensure the true cardholder is requesting the extra card.
almost all my credit cards I can add AU right online... Barclay even asks public record questions online to verify you when adding AU... Macy's it took me 3 phone calls and at least 45 minutes.
I get your point, if you have to call to add an AU it is a pain, and apparently worse with this crew. If one is logged in and able to add the AU on line, then the system has already verified who is making the request, but then that also builds in automation tools to make it easier. I can see how they would want to verify, on the phone, who you are, before authorizing the additional card, so this set of CSR apparently is not very capable, or is restricted by their systems.

For people who say OP is being picky or unrealistic, I say you must not have had to deal with Macy's lately. OP wasn't simply complaining that they were asked a few questions, the process of dealing with Macy's lately can upset and anger a saint. Macy's operates in ways one would not expect a major company to act in the year 2016. If this were 1980 I would say Macy's was with the times but unfortunately for them it is not. Thanks for sharing CA I feel your Macy's induced pain.

Probably why they're so friggin cranky
The new Macys is a definite disaster in my book too. I try to avoid contacting CSRs, but Macys forces you too, because their operation/website is screwed up
1. Phantom closed account
I just started being obsessive about my credit last year, and I noticed a 7 year old Macys account closed due to inactivity in May (start of the new Macys). The weird part is I was denied a Macys card 7 years ago, I never received a Macys card since it was denied, so it was inactive for 7 years, and the account never showed on any credit reports pulled January 2014. I called the CSR to get the account reopened, but that was denied. I just checked CCT, and it is reporting as still open only on Equifax, and closed May 2015 on EX and TU. Macys must have it confused with my new Macys card
2. Card arrival
It literally took around 25 days to receive the card. In their defense, they give you the temporary paper copy . . .
3. 10% Bonus
It took 4 statements for the 10% statement credit to pop up after numerous calls and secure messages, and it is suppose to show up on the first statement . . .
3. Getting in touch with CSR
During the website transition, I was sending secure messages, but no one was getting back. The messages finally all got answered, a month after I resolved the problems.
I could not get a human being on the phone to help using their automated directory, and 0 wasn't working. I ended up calling Macys store customer service and having them transfer me. Due to their hours, I could only call on my lunch hour, but I was on hold an average of 45 minutes each time I called. When the statement credit did not post to my first statement I was told the problem was corrected and to wait until my next statement, because they could not do anything to the account until then. The credit did not post to my second statement either so I called again, and got the same answer as above by a supervisor. I called right before the third statement, and was told it would not post to the third statement, because the request was put in after the second statement, so it would post to the 4th statement. . . it posted to the 4th statement.
Lastly, they read answers off of a computer screen, like a choose your own adventure book, but that's just a pet peeve of mine.
I hope I never need to call them again. Macys is still worlds ahead of Bestbuy home delivery, but that's a horror story posted on a different forum
