Figured I'd call the system, too.   My store account reflects a merged CL from my Revolving ($2500) and Special Events ($2900).   AMEX is still separate.    I wonder how this will show on the CRs?

The closed secondary accounts will show as "closed/transferred" and your store and AmEx will continue to report as two accounts. Unfortunately you probably used the AmEx side in the last 15 months? If so, you will remain a classic account :/ I don't understand why they didn't merge everyone into a single line account.

That's actually incorrect.  If you have a Macy's Amex, then it all goes onto that card and you will ONLY have that card.  All other lines and cards are merged onto the Amex.

Same goes if you ONLY have a Macy's Store card.  I was told that the other lines showing would be deleted on Credit Reports.  I don't know how most would feel about that, but it would improve my AAoA if that happened.

It's possible that there is an internal limit for the AMEX and the store sides that remains separate.   I suppose we really won't know for sure until we see the updates on the CRs.

For now, I "merged" my Special Events and Revolving CLs in my signature.   If the CRs show differently for the AMEX, I'll have to update.

That was what I was told on the phone about 30 minutes ago.  It's also exactly what my only letter from macy's stated as well.  Everything merged with mine.  New CL is $14,600 and I'll be receiving a new Amex card with the chip in a few weeks.

We realize that this is what you were told over the phone moments ago but it doesn't mean the same outcome will apply for everyone.  This is why there has been quite a bit of confusion running rampant and the information was all over the place (even for their staff).  The letters I received definitely did not state the same information you described.  So, I would be careful in stating that mxp114 has provided incorrect information because honestly the merger information that he described is what ended being the outcome for mine.  And, to SunriseEarth's point, given that the conversion efforts were just undertaken it is probably best to wait and see how things will reflect once the website, statements and credit reporting updates occur.

Since their websites are not up and running yet, the Macy's automated system confirmed my 3 store accounts and CLs (including SE and MPA) were combined.  My AMEX was left intact and separate.  So, in the end I have two separate CLs - $35K on the store side (including SE & MPA) and $25K on the AMEX side.

Nope, there are a population of Macy's Store/Amex accounts that will remain classic which means two statements, two lines and two TLs. I wish you were right but you're not. The other lines won't be deleted but reported as closed/transferred. The prevailing accounts in either case will inherent the legacy of the oldest opening date and the lesser of any reported negatives.

My Major and Store combined but Amex didn't, which is truly unfortunate. However a ray of light remains, a rep indicated the remaining classic accounts (dual line Store/Amex) will be converted into a single line account in early 2016. So this is good news. And thanks for the vote of confidence Smiley Wink

Re: Macy's Merging

Thanks for the heads up!

I called in but didn't want to wait for a CSR to get more information/clarification. I'll wait until tomorrow to see what shows up online. Particularly the Major Purchase account that I was approved of but wasn't aware of it until a couple of weeks ago. They must've thrown that in since I was approved of the others. It was mentioned on the automated system along with my other accounts and I was surprised to hear that considering the fact that I wasn't able to use the line to make a purchase earlier this month.

Will be paying close attention to my CRs to see how the accounts report (sans AMEX).

Keep both your credit and your body in top shape!

Re: Macy's Merging

I wonder why my Amex did not combine since i have never used it not even once. it did the club and the revolver to $6200. but not the 3k on amex. hmm. could it be because it is new? i have only had it about 2 months. i was going to cancel it to try and save my AAoA but the damage was already done. goodness. I guess will wait and see what happens. They also changed my Due date.

It sounds like it must be a more complicated endeavor for some reason, if the AMEX lines had recent usage.

It seems as if a single line would be easier for Macy's to manage, so there's definitely incentive for them to convert those products.

I'm looking at my credit reports that are MISSING (aka DELETED) the other two previously reported Macy's accounts and I have been told since JUNE by the EO office at Macy's and on the letter that I received that all accounts would merge into one American Express account IF that person has an American Express.

Re: Macy's Merging

Well mine was not merged. The special events was merged with the revolver. 6200 limit. Amex 3k. Separate.

My original letter also stated that the AMEX and store lines would remain separate.

As a general thought, I understand that the confusion around Macy's credit changes is frustrating.   On top of this, members have received conflicting information and witnessed conflicting results; please keep calm about this.   Reports of differences in information should not be regarded as any sort of personal attack.   Let's keep information flowing to each other.  This is a dialogue and we're all here to learn more about the situation.
