Re: Macy's Store Card

I have never had a problem, love the card for DW and myself. Even if you don't have your card with you, the sales reps will look you up in the computer and give you your sale discounts.

I was approved today for the Macy's store credit card with a $300 credit line. I was thrilled as i'm rebuilding my credit and never had a Macy's card before. I purchased $50 sneakers tonight online with the new account and the plastic card should be mailed to me in 7-10 days.

I was happy until I read the terrifying reviews on Credit Karma. So many complaints of Macy's charging late fees, not accepting online payments to generate the late fees, charging $2.00/month interst even if you have a zero balance. Now i'm thinking I made a mistake?

I already made my first purchase so I can't cancel. Can anyone with this card ease my worries? It's really not a card I plan to use much anyway. I just don't want a bunch of headaches that i'm reading about from others. Should I take those reviews with a grain of salt? Thanks for any advice!

I never had any issues as you read about with Macys. I pay all my cards online with recurring payments. My only problem with macys and its no big deal is that for several yrs i had the same $1000 credit line limit inspite of me making a 6 figure salary. I finally asked for a credit line increase and was granted it although I would never use half of what they gave me.

Re: Macy's Store Card

Thanks everyone for all the great responses and advice. My worries are gone and I feel much better and happy again I got the card. I always viewed Macy's as "upscale" so getting approved for this 2 years out from bankruptcy tells me i'm on the right track. And to anyone else interested in applying to them, my credit score is around 630 and I have so many inquiries. I think i'm up to like 23 or 24 at the moment. (I know, I need to lay off applying for everything I come across!)

Re: Macy's Store Card

Just wanted to chime in. My Macy's card started out with a $300 CL.  I've NEVER had any issues with Macy's whatsoever.  They are currently my highest CL standing at $22,500. I LOVE them!!! Relax and enjoy being a Macy's cardholder. Smiley Wink

Re: Macy's Store Card

I’ve had my card for 2 plus years and have never had a problem with making payments I used to go into the store but once the Macy’s closed here I payed online and everything has been good Yes you cant dwell on too many reviews It will drive you nuts especially if it’s an angry cardholder who is venting because they are in the wrong but neglects to post that part they are just trying to scare you 😳

Re: Macy's Store Card

I have had the Macy's Amex since Jan, but before that had the Macy's "Star" Card since 2004.

(Star Card was was closed in 2013 for inactivity, and I thought I was reactivating, where in reality I applied for the new Amex - was a little pissed, but Im over it now)

I have not had any of these issues you bring up, but I dont use the card very much, only at Macys and on purchases where the card nets me extra discounts. And when I do, I typically dint wait for the steatement to close before I pay it, I'll pay as soon as the charges post.

I think most of the problems have with the card stem from trying to oush the limits on paying last minute (which could be hard) or just not understanding when the statement closes, and thus trying to make last minute payments, only to find out, its take 2 days for it to post.. Or they thought the minimum was $25 and it was $35, and oh crap they underpaid...

Enjoy the discounts, and just pay the bill (in full) when it comes, and I think you'll be fine.

Re: Macy's Store Card

Like many others have posted, I also have never had any issues with my Macy's act. But then, I push my payments, and I make sure my charge and payment post at least 2 weeks prior to statement cut, since I PIF before it cuts. (I'm a little weird like that, LOL). Enjoy your new card
