The other day I called and inquired about upgrading to a macy's amex, the csr I spoke with asked me a few questions which I thought were for security purposes, then she said she would forward my request to the proper dept., not once during our conversation did she inform me that it would be a hard inq, I didn't even say that I wanted to upgrade, I asked if I qualified for one, so a day later I get a alert that Macy's pulled my credit, needless to say I was quite 
about this. Can I call them and complain to someone to get that hard inq removed since I was never informed a hard inq would required.

Macys Upgrading has been talked extensively on here... it's always been a hard pull and it takes 30 days and not much you can do about it. If you get it, it will be worth the pull though!
I just don't understand about the whole 30 day wait ordeal, I would think if they just pulled your credit Macy's could have an anwer right away, just as if you were applying for a regular store card in which there is no 30 day wait. Any opinions!!!

Nothing you can do , that would be too easy for everyone to do that, then call the next day with some story that, he didnt ask for it and so forth, ....
my advice is, everytime you call macys, make sure you tell them before even telling you name or card number, that you only have a question , and have them say back to you that they understand that, thats how i do it...
I got denied for upgrade saying i need to have an annual purchase minimum of 500 USD 
then i dont have to worry about it, i/my wife shops there all the time... and the deals man, i cant complain, if you PIF, it's the ebst store ever, when it comes to deals, and if you have their car though

Did you have to wait 30 days for an answer? I hate to say I would like to upgrade to the Macy's AMEX myself and if approved would definitely close the store card although it seems you have to go through so much hassle, such as waiting period, and now spending limit at Macy's what's next LOL!!!

Don't believe you can have just the Macys Amex... the store card comes with it. You can't charge on the Amex account in store.

Don't believe you can have just the Macys Amex... the store card comes with it. You can't charge on the Amex account in store.
CreditAddict, I am confused now do you mean to say with a Macy's Amex you can only make charges outside of Macy's only and never in a Macy's department store, I never knew this, what is the point of having this card then???, if someone has multiple credit cards elsewhere to use. My main focus for wanting this card was the limit reporting and thought I could use it at Macy's, since it is a MACY's card with a AMEX logo. This is a shocker to me. Thanks for the info, if I can't use a Macy's AMEX in any of their stores the card is utter useless for me anyway. Saved a wasted inquiry
