She has 5 more CCs no auto loans, nor mortgage, No negatives just began her credit journey February 1st of 2012 when she was 18, shes 19 now and her EX FICO Score was 703 when she requsted her cli.
I got a HP to get my limit upped from $100 to $500. They wouldn't allow me to request a CLI via chat "because the account was oppened online". Had to call Macy's to go through some ID verification stuff, THEN they transferred me to an analyst who said they could do $500 but it would require a HP. I'm hoping I can just use online requests going forward now...or will get auto-CLIs.

Which Macy's card do you have? I have the regular store card, I was approved for $300 and I loaded up like $290 and paid it off slowly... When I got it down to $0, They kicked it up to $1,000 without me requesting anything, Now it's sitting at a $1,700 limit. You can't ask for CLI's on store cards, Just the other one (I believe its AMEX?)

you can CLI request both Store and Amex side of the Macy's Card and it's 95% SP but EVERYONE is now trained to tell you HP and im not sure why... the computer uses the sp in it and it's instant.

I'm not sure how you base the "95%" data point but that is not accurate - can you statistically back this up? AFAIK, from DSNB sources who work in the U/W department, the HP/SP would depend on a lot of factors. So, it is not fair to advertise for other consumers on these forums that it is 95% SP when it isn't. The likelyhood would all depend on account history, the account type (store or AMEX, etc), elegibility criteria and internal score, then the system decides based on other factors whether to HP or SP (also depending on when the last SP was performed) to determine the elegibility.
Bottom line is folks can ask whether a SP can be used but this will not be the criteria in all cases.

Well based on that ever Macy's credit analysts seem to be trained to tell you it's a HP when it's not and that I have seen about 1 in 100 posts of actually getting HP and that being years ago and that they then called and got it removed because it was suppose to be so I really don't know why they always start HP.... It's the same system it's been for the last 5+ years and its ALWAYS a system SP and just like GE that can be up to 3 months old...
Now I'm sorry if someone has different experience but that's majority to me the way I stated.
Just fyi - their system was last upgraded toward the end of 2012 whch in some instances references decisions from the last system interface. Whether it is a "training" issue or not, one would expect the case to be 50/50. So in some circumstances it will be SP (again based on their elegibility factors), but NOT always SP. IME, I've never had to request one, since all of mine have been auto-CLIs. However, for others who have gone through the process (online chat or via phone) the results will vary.
Additionally, these forums (like anything else) only represents a fairly small universe of Macy's cardholders to attest such a statistically based scenario.

Like I said I have yet to see someone say they were told it would be HP and they actually got a HP... by phone and by chat they are saying HP... I even called directly into underwriting and he told me HP but then told me system does it... which is maddening in itself that he is an analyst but the computer does the analysing?!
anyway, I understand it's not a sure SP and I FOR SURE agree that we represent a fairly small universe of cardholders but in this universe we are the only ones posting about it and no one is telling me on here they were told HP and they got a HP and what they got because of the HP.
even lately we are seeing posts for upgrades via SP from store to amex... that was 100% for sure a HP in the past!
