My CL on discover is lowest by far, but i realize that when i appled for discover card my credit wwasn't the greatest. Once i realized that discover wont give cli to people who applied with less then stellar credit. i am fine with that there are other cards i will use when discover doesn't have 5 % categories.
discover was my third card with only 6 months of credit history. They by far started me out with my highest line at 4k (amex was 2k chase 700). Then they just kept upping it. All it ever really got was about 2k in charges for some tattoo work and a netflix sub.

Lesson learned, don't get greedy or at least plan it ahead to see what you would ideally want and have the system return a favorable outcome or counter. Call Discover (you have 11 minutes before their systems do their nightly updates which would include CLI requests), ask them to reset/clear any pending CLI requests in progress. Just let them know you attempted to cancel and request a different amount and now it's locked out... Perhaps you can get one over the phone (SP-wise) once it's reset. And.. go...
For me i applied for BCP, Freedom and discover all at the same time, freedom and amex have both given me two sp cli before i even got one sp cli with discover. I will just look maybe tomorrow and see what happens.

I wish discover would just automatically counter so I could just shoot for the stars and get what I get. It's like a guessing game. Spoke to CSR have to contact the underwriting department which is closed at 8. If they reset the system at midnight I'll just try again. Not like my credit report is going to change.

I am still getting CLI can't be processed at this time, oh well I don't think i will be using much discover till new year anyways so not an big deal.
for me the CLI requests up to 2,5K were SP but asking for 3K would have also been HPs. I did it 3 x in a row every 3 months and it worked each time. I am done now 😉

I never get soft pull increases. I never get auto increases. I had my card originally at $1000 and had to get a hard pull to increase it. I took it to $5000. At the time I got denied, but had to speak with an analyst still to get it increased. Oddly, she basically told me I could have gotten more! The way she said it, I took it to mean I probably could have gotten $10K. But, I still don't get auto increases or soft pull increases. Yes, my report was not the best when I got it, but it was still pretty good. Good enought to get $10K from Barclays for my Sallae Mae card!
Discover only allows one customer-initiated SP CLI every 90 days. I believe declining still "counts" as I recently declined mine but they still gave me the measly 1.5K CLI and locked me out for another 90 days.
Next time I will try for a SP with reps and they should be able to request a larger CLI amount than 1.5K the automated system usually gives me.
