Mission Lane took 2 days to close via secure messaging

PSA only: YMMV

I used the secure messaging feature in the Mission Lane website to request they close my account. The interface includes verbage about them taking 1-2 days to respond. In my case they took only 1 day. However their initial message was not to confirm closure but to verify I did intend to close the account. Of course I did verify. And then they did close it.

Point being that if you cut the line too close to when your annual fee -if you have one- is going to post you may not get it closed in time to avoid... if using their secure messaging feature.

Yes, I could have called, but I prefer messaging for at least text proof, and use screenshots to help remind myself of what I did when.

I think that's actually good , some issuers won't even let you close accounts through secured message .

I closed my ML card the same way, through the secure messages.  I don't believe I had the l had to ask them multiple times to close it.  The first time when I originally asked to close it, the agent said no problem, the account was closed. But I kept logging in every couple of days and the account remained open.  After about a week, I had to message them again to close the account.  Agent apologized and said the account was closed.  This time it took effect almost immediately.

So definitely, if you have a ML card with an AF and you are looking to close it, I would do it well before the date the AF is to hit just to make sure you get the account closed.
