We are committed to doing everything we can to meet your financial needs. We’re here for you with the solutions, support, and advice you need to manage your accounts. Our emergency assistance program can help you manage through the financial challenges you may face.

Chartway’s Emergency Financial Assistance Program:

  • Request to skip your loan or credit card payment(s)*
  • Request that we increase your line of credit
  • In addition, we are supporting our members by waiving Chartway ATM service fees.

*If your skip payment is approved, and you have an automatic transfer set up from another financial institution to make your loan payment, you will need to contact your financial institution and cancel the transaction for your payment. Interest will continue to accrue and payment(s) will be added to the end of the loan term, which may cause a reduction to GAP or Warranty Coverage. Other restrictions may apply. Speak to a Member Specialist for more information.

Somehow I have a feeling that if I were to "request that [they] increase [my] line of credit" it would somehow come back to bite me. I fear financial institutions.

Just an update on my Langley conundrum.... set up an appointment to get called for the BT i was interested in possibly doing...since i dont live there, picked a branch by random and scheduled one for 5pm today. Never got called but did get an email basically telling me about their bt promotion , which i could have read off their website, and if i needed help doing one. Uh, duh, you cant initiate a bt online must be done by  phone. I emailed guy back saying i was interested to call me at his convenienceSmiley Wink. So , in my short experience, i dont think im high on their agenda.....Wonder if i had mo money in my accounts?Smiley Wink....

I don't know if it has been suggested yet but it would probably help people a lot if all the options available were put on the first post sort of as a master list. That way so people can see if they have financial dealings with them and take action accordingly rather than go through the whole thread

So if you have had to turn to your creditor for help during this time. I feel its time to come together as we do just on the topic of credit as it is. And help each other on how your particular creditor helped you with your personal circumstance. In turn this could help a fellow member with the same company when it comes time to ask for help on how they can handle their situation also with the same creditor that you used for assistance. Be it suspending payments. Lowering APR's. Whatever help you recieved in any way . Please post the company and what they have done for you. Then the same can be applied to your situation when it comes time for assistance with the same creditor. We can get thru this as a TEAM. Together Everyone Accomplishes Much. May it all come to an end soon and life can get back to normal for all of us real soon. Sooner the better.

Next time anyone asks what the main difference between some banks and CUs is, I'll be sure to bump this thread.

That chart is eye opener for sure

From San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU):

Consumer Loan Deferment Relief
If you choose not to make your payment by the due date, SDCCU will automatically advance the due date for you, and defer your payment 90 days, with no fees¹. This is for SDCCU auto loans, credit cards, and personal loans. No need to call us, this deferment will happen automatically. Additionally, if you don’t need financial relief, please continue to make your loan payments as you normally do.

Please note, if you have automatic payments via auto transfer, Bill Payer Plus™, or the payment originates from another bank, you will need to manually stop these payments by cancelling the payment within Bill Payer Plus™, contacting the credit union to stop the automatic transfer, or contacting the other bank where the payment originates.

Mortgage Loans, Home Equity Loans, or Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOC) Deferment Relief
For members who need payment assistance on a SDCCU mortgage loan, Home Equity Loan, or Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC), the credit union will defer your payment up to 90 days, with no fees². To initiate a mortgage loan payment deferral, please fill out the SDCCU Mortgage Relief contact form and a SDCCU Loan Representative will contact you about your options.

If your mortgage loan is serviced by Midwest Loan Services (MLS), please contact MLS at lossmit@midwestloanservices.com or 800-262-6574 to receive this same offer.

Business Loan Deferment Relief
If you choose not to make your business auto loan and/or credit card payment by the due date, SDCCU will automatically advance the due date for you and defer your payment 90 days, with no fees³.

Just as a reminder for all (or to inform anyone who doesn't already know)...

Citi's Home Depot- interest free periods ranging from 6-24 (I think 24) months for the LIFE of the card to help out with those unexpected home repairs. (Synchrony offers similar benefits with their Lowes card.)

Synchrony Car Care- interest free for 6 month periods for the LIFE of the card for unexpected car repairs.

Sybchony Care Credit- interest free for 6 month periods for the LIFE of the card for unexpected medical expenses. (You and your furry friend)

Synchrony's PayPal credit- interest free for 6 month periods for the LIFE of the account for unexpected anything else that you can buy online (from any of the tons of businesses that accepts Paypal).

Also, I love this thread. Thank you, OP, for creating it.

@Namaste7This is awesome! I am working so much OT due to call volumes are going nuts for every fever or cold a person has. Placed extra rescue units during peak hrs. I'm on here in between calls as I usually am when I'm at the station. This took a load off me to try and do this. I have placed it on post #1 and will keep it updated as you do your thing on the chart. #TeamMyFICO cant be stopped. We'll get thru this. Smiley Happy
