Received a letter from NFCU saying they were upgrading my card to Visa Signature and also received new card in the mail on the same day. Card is exactly the same except it says Visa Signature at the bottom. Card number, exp date and security code are all exactly the same. CL is the same but I just received a CLI from the love button a few weeks ago. Is there much of a difference between Visa Signature and regular Visa? Am I missing something?
Each issuing FI may have the ability to choose which benefits to offer on a Visa vs a Visa Signature level of a card. @ K-in-Boston has 2 or 3 post over here explaining some of this
Also, reading the fine print of your T&C and or calling a Navy CSR may give you detail inside for this Cash Rewards Visa Signature card.

It probably had to do with your CLI. Your new higher limit elevated the status of the card. There are a bunch of benefits associated with Visa signature cards, but I don't know what they are since I've never used any of them.
