Navy Federal generally softs once every 2-3 months for members, but only for those with lending products...usually 2 months, though they wait 3 months every once in awhile. The additional soft may be from a pre-qualification or pre-approval campaign. You'd think that rather than repulling your score in May, they'd use the score they pulled in April, but for some reason they're kept in different places so there's a certain amount of redundancy.

Jay I've been a member since May 2007. NFCU along with Penfed has religiously softed EQ only every quarter never more than that. Since I became a member I have had a car loan actually two and credit cards. Thought the extra pull was out of the ordinary. Since I voluntarily decreased my nRewards cards from 40-25K I have no idea what they want to offer me.

small - just curious why you asked to have the CL reduced?

TU wasn't picking up the card when it was used. I only got a 40K limit on the card because I combined a MC and the N card. Both were originally 20K. What do I need with a 40K limit on a card that doesn't see over 1K per month?

Hmm, maybe the frequency varies based on several different factors (like the type of product you have with them), or maybe they've changed the frequency with which they do regular pulls as a result of the economy? I'm just speaking from my personal experience though (I'm a member since late '08), which is most likely different from yours. As far as the offers go...the prequal/preapp process is automated, and I doubt the methodology is smart enough to see that you had a voluntary CLD and not prequal/preapp you as a result of it. Only solution for that would be to opt out.
