Well after reading this forum about the NFCU GoRewards I decided to apply. I recieved the message 3-5 business days and then about 30 mintues later I recieved a email stating I had a message waiting for me and that message said I will have a decision in 1 business day. I hope it is something good. Since reading the NFCU forums on here my credit with them has really increased. I went from $800 on my nReward visa to $16,000. I got the line of credit $15,000 and also got a loan for $5,000. I would read what contributors were saying and then applied it and it worked everytime. So when I logged in today and saw all the fuss about the GoRewards card I thought I would apply. I will update the result as soon as I know.

Called and spoke with a Lending supervisor. She said that when they approve a first card, they usually approve the most they can. Second cards in a short period of time, no go. In my case she said nothing negative, she said the fact I had NO CC debt was bad because I can still go spend on those cards. "Available debt" she says I have too much other available credit. She suggested closing other accounts. She said they have "guidelines" on situations that determine what limit they give and every underwriter will be the same. So let me get this straight, if you get one card with them, how long will you have to wait in order to apply and get approved for the 2nd card? I've seen multiple members who have 3 cards?
Seeing how I have this available debt, I am probably not going to app for NavCheck (this might screw me later) I have no intent on using it.
She offered to move $1k from Cash Rewards (now $10k) to the GoRewards (now $1k). I do not care because I will use that one PIF and keep charging till I reach the $1500 spend requirement. She said I could close it and move it back, but more than likely I will CLI later.
On another note, I got her to FedEx the card for free. She was apologatic and stated they are bound by the guidelines of the credit union and can be fired for going outside those guidelines.
What should I do now? Let my EQ cool off a while and try for a CLI at my 6 month for Cash Rewards and 3 month for this new account?
This is confusing..... I hope CA can share some insight?
I kind of think it is their polite way of saying NO!
I am going to wait about 6 months on this card and try for CLI. Three months on my CashRewards I got the 3-5 message and they only increased $1k. I ended up moving the $1k to the new MasterCard to get it open.

I'm no CA but IMHO what is going on is if it has not been at least three months since your last CLI or new card and that CLI was a counter offer or hard pull then you are at your internal cc limit with NFCU based on your profile. If you apply for a new one their computerized underwriting system will tell them no and they cannot override it. However it allows moving of credit lines to stay at the total number.
I believe it is a good idea to accept or request the movement of the line because the computer underwriting system is likely to give you the same limit on both cards once they are established. Therefore giving you double the total credit line. Also it creates an opportunity to get both cards to 25k on SP CLIs then move lines around to end up with a card at 50k or say one at 49 and one at 1 that you can then continue to sp CLI.
That's a well thought theory. So do you think if Mr.Credit would have applied at the six month mark the system would have auto approved, or do you think that their criteria has changed recently? What was your experience with getting more than one card with NFCU, i've noticed some members with at least three products can't say i've seen anyone with more than that.

Yes to the six moth mark, or just use the reallocation trick on all new apps. I got my cards well before now and I was not pushing my credit lines at the time. I have since figured out that the system like to match the lines on the two cards. at one point I had my older card at 8k and my newer one at 5 and thought I was at the internal limit because I had asked for 10000 on the older one, many NFCU posts later I realized I had space on the newer one so I requested 25k got the 14k counter then went to the older one and requested 25k and got the 14k counter. I am waiting for my clock to tick to 3 months now. I have read alot of NFCU posts where the OP requested a second card right after a first or a CLI and these almost always decline. However CA normally comes in and recommends the split thing which normally works. Also if you read CA's whole NFCU official CLI thread there is a lot of wisedom contained in it.
