NFCU Strategy

Well, I am starting to get a little love on CL's, FINALLY. Opened up NFCU account 3 or 4 months ago and was aaproved for the goRewards card with a $5K CL. My first decent line since my 2007 BK. Also, just got my CapOne card increased from $3K to $6K. No luck on my Barclay Rewards yet; still stuck at $1,300. Anyways, my 4th NFCU statement is cutting next week and I was wondering if I should hit the love button and go for a CLI... or try and get approved for the NavChek CL? Would trying for both be too much to ask for? If not, in which order should I try? And, should I go for it before or after my 4th statement cuts? I have a $2,500 balance, but generally PIF prior to statement cycle.

Any insight would be greatly APPRECIATED.

Re: NFCU Strategy

Apply for the cashRewards card as it is by far their best card. Then if denied send a secured message asking to transfer 1k of limit from go rewards to cash rewards. If approved or after they split your limit go for the CLI (25k)on the goRewards. Then apply for navcheck if you want to. Assuming at this point you have two NFCU cc's call them or SM them and transfer limit from go rewards to cash rewards to balance the limits. Wait 3 more months then try to CLI both.

wait what?

wrong order to me.

Apply for CLI on your current card and hopefully get instant counter from the $25k request.

then apply for navcheck $15k

then apply for 2nd card if you want one... you will be declined, send a secure message asking them to take $1k or more from your newly CLI card to open the 2nd card.

Re: NFCU Strategy

Hum I feel the 2nd card has a better approval chance before the max CLI on the first. Then you most likely won't have to ask for the split. IMHO, however, CA is the NFCU GURU.

Thanks everyone. Okay, so what's the idea behind having a 2nd NFCU card? I am open to all ideas, but if going for one will compromise another, then the NavChek line is my priority. However, increasing my GoRewards line would be nice as well. The 2nd NFCU card would be nice too, but my lowest priority unless I am missing something here.

Re: NFCU Strategy

If 2nd card is lowest priority for sure do cli followed by navcheck app and regardless of cli don't hold off on navcheck app... They are different departments

Re: NFCU Strategy

The cc stuff shouldn't effect the LOC at all as it is a different department within NFCU. The main point of the cashRewards is it is 1.5% cash back on everything. Redeemable at any amount as statement credit or a deposit in for checking/ savings. It is their best card for swipe spending. Also you can get the visa signature version at a 5 k CL without a AF.

The other reason is two cards to CLI on up to 25k each.

Re: NFCU Strategy

Thanks Addict. When would you suggest I hit the love button? My due date is this Tuesday (12th) and my statement cycles on Friday (15th). As previously mentioned, I currently have a $2,500 balance, which I can pay off in full or leave a small balance depending on which is best. And, should I hit the love button after the statement cycles and then wait a few days for it to report???

Sorry for being a bother... Smiley Sad
