I understand everyone loves seeing those CLI from NFCU, but other than a sky high CL and a nice APR, their rewards program is medicore. The apr while attractive doesn't mean much. Does anyone sane really put 20k on a 25k limit card to carry a balance?
Their auto loans are only marginally better than DCU.
Most CU's have incredible customer service and extended hours.
I suppose their real advantage is likely thier mortgage rates, but I can't say I know how to compare.
Is the sky high CL really the majority of what attracts most people to NFCU?
What attracted me to NCFU is the credit limits of course, but its also the mortages and other products and services.
When I first joined this week, I spent a couple hours perusing their site looking at all the things they have and offer. Its a massive array of services.
The limits on the cards are great for util if one manages his/her credit carefully.
They also have certificates that can be bought with ease and so long as things shake out well with them and my app for their flagship Visa, I have about 50K ready to plop straight into various savings and certificate products of theirs.
I like that its mainly military because while I am not military myself, I am a pilot and a LOT of my friends are. When these guys and gals stick their stamp of approval on something, I tend to put a lot of weight into that.
Thats my 2 coppers on NFCU currently.
thanks for the info...personal expereince really seems to set credit unions esspecially NFCU apart from big banks.
Aye. NFCU has awesome Customer Service. I was totally flirting with my rep today. Its a good damn thing my wife wasn't around.

I would hardly call a cashback card with 1% cashback and no minimum required to cashout mediocre. Plus Navy Fed is testing bonus cashback categories with some users to see if there's a market for it amongst the members. I have one time transfered only a dollar in rewards to my checking account just to see if I could. You also get great customer service and a lender who will give you a chance.
The Value is the complete package

Couldn't have said it better. But asy you know with anything, it all boils down to your personal preference.
Each credit institution has their own fans who swear by them and they also have their foes who swear by them as well.
