NRA Credit cards

I am disappointed the NRA no longer offers credit cards and can’t find an issuing bank for their organization.  People should proudly believe in showing their support and also it should give funds back to the organization with purchase.

I was thinking about applying before it was discontinued and am a proud supporter of the NRA and was sad to see it gone.  Hopefully one day they will reissue the card with a supportive issuer.

Re: NRA Credit cards

Cards are issued based on interest.  If there was still substantial interest in a NRA card I think it would still be available.  I am guessing that the interest in a NRA branded card had dropped below economic demand for the card.  Without commenting on the 2nd Amendment, or NRA public positions on gun control,  I can see a lot of circumstances in which the display of this card might be conterprodictive.  There might be an equal number of circumstances in which it would be desirable, but my guess is that the market spoke and the card was no longer ecconomically viable.

Re: NRA Credit cards

Before anyone goes there don't bring politics into this thread just a warning ahead of time....

OP the duck unlimited offers the same benefit as the NRA card and if you want to support the NRA then obviously you can join if you haven't already and give them money etc. other ways... Just as other that don't support it can give to said cause..  Keep this post on CC's as this is in the CC section and not about an organization.  Thank you

Re: NRA Credit cards

Hang in there OP. I’m hopeful they’ll get another credit partnership soon, too.

Re: NRA Credit cards

The bank for both the Ducks Unlimited card and the former NRA card is FNBO.

Re: NRA Credit cards

Maybe they couldn’t afford what the bank was charging them? Or maybe people just weren’t signing up for the card because aside from “pride”, what benefit does the card offer? “Pride” or transpacific business class tickets with a Chase Sapphire Preffered? Or maybe the feedback the bank was getting from non-supporters was worth more $$$ from them that the $$$ they were getting from cardholders.

Several different possibilities, and perhaps some truth to all of them. NRA does still give out bumper stickers, no?

When Delta ended their discount program, they disclosed publicly that they had sold a grand total of 15 tickets.

Money talks in the credit card world.

Re: NRA Credit cards

OP you could try to come up with a personal design and put it on a Capital One or Discover card, then donate?

At FNBO, their approval requirements probably did not help the market share numbers. Hopefully the personal data would be secure, da?

Well the NRA card may be gone but you can get other cards to help non-profit organization.  Here is one for the Susan G Komen organization:

https://www.bankofamerica.com/credit-cards/products/susan-komen-credit-card/

Here is on that donates to the World Wildlife Fund:

Or you could just get a 2 percent back credit card like Citi Double Cash and donate the money you get back to the charity.  Which would be tax deductible assuming you itemize.
