Need advice on applying to CSP again

I got my CSP first time in 2014. My annual fees will hit 9/1. I am planning to downgrade this card to another chase freedom (I already have chase freedom and got chase freedom unlimited on 8/1) and apply for CSP again, aiming for the signup bonus 60000 UR. Later i can convert this into CSR, after i start to travel next year. I have 4 chase cards already with combined limit $20,300. Is it a good idea to downgrade CSP and get new CSP for signup bonus? Advice please.

Re: Need advice on applying to CSP again

I did something similar and it worked well.

2013: Freedom with SUB

2015: CSP with SUB

2018: PC CSP to CFU

2018: CSR with SUB

2020: PC CSR to 2nd Freedom

One thing to be careful about is that if your income is below $60k or so you might want to request a CLD on one or multiple cards a few days before applying to ease the process of getting a $5k approval.

You might update your signature!

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

As long as you do not hold a Sapphire product at the time of application and have not received a SUB for a Sapphire product in the past 48 months you should be good!

Spot on. Wanted to just add, 48 months from the bonus post not card opening. I would wait 48 months + 1 day from bonus post to be safe.
