Yesterday I applied online and was instantly approved for PRG and BCE (5k). I was going to call tomorrow to inquire about backdating, but I am afraid it may go bad.
I had a green card in college (1996-7) burned them for about 6k.....
I had a corporate gold card for work (2006-7) account was closed because I got a new job....
They have been SP me for years...
Will they simply deny my backdating request or investigate and find out about the past burning and close the door on me? Should I just be happy with the new cards and not worry about the backdating? It would really help my AAoA even if they just went back to 2006.
Anyone have a similar experience??? Thanks in advance. You all have been awesome.
Don't ask them now. They should just do it right away. My second Amex was auto backdated. It usually isn't something you have to ask for,
Ya I was under the impression that Backdating was something they honor and automatically do, and not something you have to put in a request for.
I burned them too many years ago but they still backdated for me without me asking. Look on your account page when you can. Sometimes the card 'member since' will be incorrect and you request a new one, but really pay attention to the card page. Congrats on the new cards!
I would just wait and see when the card arrives. They may be backdated already. It's not a rush and since the new accounts won't even report for a couple of statements at least you'll have time to make the request and have it update to the CRA's. Congrats on the approvals

I say wait til you get the card in the mail and then call if it wasn't automatically backdated. I do hear though that you don't need to use the term backdate.. "My member since date isn't reflected as when I first had an Amex..." kind of talk. lol
Agree

Thanks All. So I tried to set up my accounts on-line and its saying that my 4 CID is incorrect.
I will simply wait to get my cards and proceed as suggested. Thanks for the words of encouragement.
@wade64, you were supposed to tell me to get back to the garden! I app'd for Chase (high off the Amex approvals) and got the "review" message.
