We'll have to keep each other company in the No Amex App boat. Just the thought of it is making my app finger itch

Unfortunately I shop at Costco for business supplies usually once a week and the store I go to is pushing the TE card right near the entrance. What to do...what to do?? The good thing is if I do get it I'll boost my AAoA 'cause it will backdate to 1982....and I know there are a few on this board who'll just say "Go for it!"

Okay so I'm probably one of those people who would say go for it......I wish I could join you. I'm an AU on an Am Ex from 1986 so I think I would get the back dating as well....not sure though. Do you have anything coming up that would prevent you from doing so or lots of inqs already? Unfortunately I'm in no app jail as I'm in the midst of trying to buy a house. It's a short sale so until I hear back that we've got the green light and close, it could be a LONG while before I can do anything. If you do decide to app let us know how it turns out!
I was also recently approved for a TrueEarnings card and love it. I applied in-store and was approved instantly. If you apply in-store, they will give you a printout with a temporary card # and barcode that can be used to make purchases at Costco. So, you can start earning cash back immediately.
I eat out frequently so the 3% restaurant savings is a great perk. Costco's gas is also 10-15c lower than standalone gas stations in my area, so I'm going there exclusively now.
The online account management is also great. I got an additional card for my Chase Freedom and it was just the same account # with a different name. AMEX sends a new card #, and allows the primary account holder to keep tabs on the secondary account and even set a limit for each additional card. Also, additional cardholders can pay their bill directly on the AMEX site. My gf couldn't even create a Chase account to access the Ultimate Rewards mall!
I'd probably get approved for it (EX FICO is 750+) and the INQ wouldn't really hurt me at all. I have 5 in just the last 12 months (2 for Auto loan, 2 from Citi and 1 from Amex for my Green card). I buy my gas there all the time since it is so much cheaper (we're above $4/gal here) and to get 3% on top of that? No brainer!! I just hate pondering over this stuff...LOL

Well I say go for it! I'm not sure if 5 inq is too many for Amex, but with a score above 750 I can't see why you'd get denied. 3% savings on gas? You could always say you're doing it for the economy If you decide to go for it, keep us posted. Did I mention I'm jealous?
I'm going to Costco tomorrow to do some shopping for work (and a few things for me...shhhh!) so I might just give it a shot. I'll let you guys know what happens. It seems that American Express has been in a very good mood lately. I've been reading that a lot of folks have been getting cards from them with mid 600 scores. I really like their business model as they seem to be very customer focused. When you log out of their website they even wish you "Have a Great Day!" How cool is that?? Plus I love buying stuff at Costco. The quality of goods there are exceptional and they treat their customers very well. And if you have to return something they don't give you any grief.
Well I went to Costco today to do my weekly shopping. The Amex stand was there "calling my name"...LOL! Talked to the lady there who really wasn't pushing me to apply right then and there. Told me the benefits of the card and that I could apply for the business card if I wanted (we have an Executive Membership for our practice) but I told her I just wanted the personal. Filled out a brief app and BAM! "Well you're approved!" Yay!! 2 new backdated Amex cards this month to help my AAoA and the cost of gas. They also have 0% financing for the first 6 months which is kinda cool. And yes... I charged my $32 purchase on the new card
