New Amex Spending Power Feature?

This may be old news, but something new for me. When you check to see if a purchase will be approved Amex now shows your max approval? That's helpful and I've been asking for this for years lol

That's like playing with a lighter around a puddle of gas that's vaporizing.  Be careful around that feature..... Smiley Happy

Re: New Amex Spending Power Feature?

may be limited to AMEX Platinum, my old Zync card still gives the old yes or no.... answer.

But yes my Zync card that I haven't run a charge on for at least a year will still appove a $7500 perchase...

guess we will need to wait till others respond, yes its  a think on my PRG or etc...    and only my old Zync card is left out.

Cards: Chase Southwest 20k & CSR 17k & CSP 10k & FNBO 30k Oregon Duck 5k, & AMEX BCP 32.5k & Amex Magnet 15k&amg; Hilton Surpass 7.5k & Delta Gold 12k & Zync NPSL, Fidelity AMEX 17k Commerce5.9k & Cash Forward 7.5k & Sams Club MC 20k, Paypal Extras MC 10k, Paypal Credit 7.25k CapOne Venture 15k, QS 2.5k, QS 750, Amazon 10k, Walmart 10k, Citi Simplicity 18k, Discover IT 23k and a nice stack of store cards.

Re: New Amex Spending Power Feature?

This is interesting... I gave it a whirl on my PRG and it gave me my "limit" as well:

I admit in my case the "limit" is laughable, but considering I've not put over $200 on the card in a single month in nearly a year it actually makes sense.  Considering my new ED limit is $8k I'm confident the PRG limit would probably bounce back if I were to give it some use.

For someone who is a heavy user of Amex charge cards this feature could come in very handy.  Smiley Happy

Note:  As I mention, I seldom use my PRG which is why I was fine to give the 'spending feature' button a go... based on advice given in other threads I generally wouldn't recommend playing with it too much, though.

There's nothing wrong with checking.  Urban legend that it leads to AA

They do have a disclaimer that states if you use it too much in a 24hr period, they'll lock you out of it.

I haven't put any obscene amounts in it because I don't like poking the bear!!

Re: New Amex Spending Power Feature?

This is useless. I put in $500 and told me I can spend up to $1500. I have previously charged a lot more then that. So I put in $10000 and told me I can charge up to $13300. I guess if I put in $50000, it would tell me I can spend up to $60000...

Re: New Amex Spending Power Feature?

Totally an urban legend. If it actually led to AA, I would be FR'ed monthly... lol
