I saw on the application that it asks for your AARP number.
I haven't tried, but is the AARP membership # field a required* field or can it be left blank?
It says leave blank if you don't have one "yet." in the fine print it says one will be assigned to you. I didn't know if that would auto deny since I'm not of age lol. I'm looking for a no af 3% travel card. Was denied two years ago for the Propel, so didn't want to apply for that again.
I received a nice color glossy Barclay's AARP "Essential Rewards MasterCard" credit card invitation yesterday, complete with a $100 cash back SUB after spending $500 in the first 90 days. Yeah, thanks but no thanks.
Chapter 13:
I categorically refuse to do AZEO!

Is that because of the lower SUB or the categories don't fit your spending?

Four reasons actually:

Four reasons actually:
- The rewards categories are either worse (gas) or all but useless (drug store and medical expenses) for me; yeah, I'm old, but I don't take any meds and don't have any health issues.
- The SUB isn't even remotely enticing.
- I'm gardening until next spring; clearly nothing to do with the offer itself.
- I currently have more credit than I can use in any given month.
Good, well thought out reasons.
It takes a lot to entice me to apply for a new card and I really like seeing others that think through credit decisions

I feel like restricting a lending product based on age might raise some eyebrows the lender doesn't want to raise.

I'm scratching my head wondering why anyone, AARP member or not, would want the card. That said, if they do offer exclusively to AARP members, which wouldn't surprise me, it isn't an age restriction per-se, it is a membership restriction the same as say, PenFed when it comes to whom they issue their credit cards to.
