I tried for a CLI on my Blue Cash on day 63 and was rejected. Today I got the letter in the mail with the reason:
You have a credit limit on your Amex Platinum Charge Card.
It didn't say anything else. My first reaction was, "so what?" . . . anyone else received this type of rejection for a CLI ?
That's weird...did you happen to add an authorized user as yourself, and set a limit for that card? I know there were some talks of people doing that so that there would be a limit reported to the CRA's..?
Other than that I'm not sure, I'm eager to see what others have to say.

My Plat has a hard pre-set spending limit, which is much higher than the limit on my Blue Cash. DW is an AU and account manager, but that shouldn't make any difference. At least I don't think..

My guess is that they might not give you an increase on any other card if you have a hard limit on the Platinum because it would exceed whatever total amount of credit they're comfortable with giving you. If they increased the limit on the Blue Cash and lowered your hard limit by that amount on the Platinum would that be acceptable to you in this situation? You might be able to ask them to do that if the limit on the Blue Cash was an issue for you.

Nah its really not that big of deal; I just found it odd . . . I don't recall ever seing anything on here about this rejection reason.
When Amex places a hard limit on a charge card they are seeing something in the credit reports that make them a little nervous for you to charge to wazoo. When a hard limit is on the charge that also means they will not approve anymore accounts and will not grant any CLI. They are review once a year to remove the hard limit.
Also same thing goes if they "remove the options of sign and travel" from a charge card, any other accounts are blocked from CLI.

Our Plat has had a hard limit on it since it was opened a couple years ago. We were initially denied for Blue Cash in May, but approved after recon. Interesting about the "sign and travel", my wife asked about it not long after the account was open (not even knowing what it was) and she was simply told "its not available on our account"
