Back in April I was approved for the Amex Blue Cash Everyday card with a $3,900 limit (matching my lowest limit CC). I was thinking I would wait another three or four months and then ask for a CLI to bring my limit to $10,000. I don't really need that high of a limit as I make multiple CC payments per month, but do you think this is too much to ask for since I am a first-time Amex customer? Currently, my highest limit card is my Sam's Club GEMB CC with a $5,850 limit. It would be nice to have a card in the 5 digit limit range as I would then start using it for some business purchases. Also note that I have not asked for any CLIs with Amex thus far even though I know they usually allow one after 61 days. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I don't know how the deal with it when you ask for the first time, but usually you can press the CLI button every 6 months and ask for up to three times your current limit without hard pull. If they don't like what you want, they might make a counter offer.
I would ask for the credit limit. I am going to ask in exactly 2 month from today for a credit limit increase to make it $10k. My other card has a limit under $1k.
You can only do 3 times your CL. So if you're credit line is $1,000 you can't ask for $10,000.
I don't know what your odds would be. I think that's like trying to read tea leaves. I don't see the harm in asking for the $10K. Your scores look good. As stated above, I think they counter with something else if they won't give you the amount you requested.
I would ask for it... and we have recently got info from another poster that they asked for 3x and Amex countered back a little lower... so go ahead and ask for the 3x.
First CLI can come after 61 days of account opening, future are at 6 months.
