Re: On average how long did it take for Discover to increase your limit automatically?

March will be my 1 year anniversary and Discover has yet to give me a CLI (no auto and I haven't asked) but I also don't believe I ever have had more than $1000 of my $7500 limit in use at a time either so I am not surprised nor disappointed obviously since I haven't bothered to ask for a CLI. I doubt they would give me one with my low limit usage, however, so I won't be asking anyway.

It's a SP and can be done online..

Up to you if you choose not to ask but the worst that can happen is a no. They send a letter with reasons, that's it..

Mine is stuck at $3300 because I don't use enough of my avail credit. I'm preapproved for a 2nd Disco It and have seriously considered it but I really don't need it- I use my NFCU, USB Cash+ and it's more than enough.

Apping for a second Disco would only be to combine & up my CL on the first- IDK if it would make me use it more or not.

Thus far I'm abstaining. LOL

Hmm... So would the best approach be to use a large amount each month and pay it off before statement end date? Other than making payments on time and keeping utilization low at statement end; is there anything else they want to see? Thanks so much for your input.

I know that I got my card in July, and I got a auto credit limit increase of $600, to be honest I'm not even worried about increases anymore, I just let it happen but I got it sometime this year, so I would say a couple of months.

The thing is, I started this year with $9250 total credit between 3 cards and now I have a total of 6 cards (and closed 3) with $37,450 worth of credit. I don’t really see the need to pursue anything more as an absolute emergency spend for me would be 3K which is less than 50% on 4 of my cards including the Discover. If they give me an auto CLI, I will totally not complain but I just don’t see any reason to ask for more from them, I’ve had a great year and what I have now can easily carry me through my garden goals Smiley Happy
