Options for current CSP member to downgrade/upgrade

Hello everyone. I hope the following inquiry makes sense enough to get a bit of assistance. I'm looking at options to reorganize my chase lineup.

I have a CSP and a Chase Freedom, both of which I've had for over 4 years. I see that there are upgraded rewards on both the CSP and CSR. I was considering switching to the CSR before the new rewards came out, but now realize that based on my use, the CSP is now closer to the CSR for what I'd get out of it. So two questions:

1) If I were to downgrade the CSP to a CFFlex or CFUnlim, would I be able to turn around and re apply for a sapphire to take advantage of the new 100k bonus on the CSP.

2) if no to above, if I'm not taking advantage of the priority pass, is there a lot of true benefit to upgrading to the CSR since the CSP has been upgraded?

Hope these questions aren't too much of a bother to get answers to. Thank you so much in advance.

Re: Options for current CSP member to downgrade/upgrade

Quite a few are doing option 1. As long as you have had the csp over four years when you got the bonus, and you are under 5/24

Chase (CSP,CF,CFU,southwest premier)
Barclay(jetblue, arrival)
Bofa(US pride, premium, travel, cash, Suzy komen)
Citi(Premier, Double cash, Costco)
Fnbo(Mlife)
Amex(everyday, cash, Hilton)
Blockfi
Caesars rewards
Sofi

Re: Options for current CSP member to downgrade/upgrade

Do you mind me asking, would you know how long after I downgrade from a CSP to one of the others may I reapply for the CSP?

Also, if I downgrade, I assume I keep all my current points in the mean time? It's no big deal if I can't, as I'll just transfer my current bank of points to my wife's CSP since she is currently in the 4 yr period anyway.

I believe that you have to wait at least 30 days for Chase to recognize that you no longer hold a Sapphire product.  I've seen posts of denials based on holding a Sapphire product within that time frame.

Yes, as long as you have a UR earning card, the URs will be there.  You just won't be able to redeem them with the .25/.5 bonus or transfer to travel parters without the CSP/CSR.
