Hey all,
Bored in the garden and saw for some reason my chat privileges with Cap1 have been re-instated... long story. About a month and a half ago, I saw a thread from @happypill on how they PCed their Capital One Quicksilver Mastercard into a Venture One World Mastercard. I've been trying for ages to get EO (multiple times) to convert my Quicksilver Mastercard into a Quicksilver World Mastercard. The reason, you may ask, the garden is boring and Chase has yet to start the Ritz 140k offer...
So I fire up chat and the rep seems helpful, I ask him if I can convert my Quicksilver into a Quicksilver Mastercard OR possibly change my Quicksilver MC into a Venture One WMC. He says the V1 WMC is an option. I double check to see if going into a Quicksilver WMC is an option, he says no, just a V1 WMC or Venture WMC. Sure what the heck, let's make my QS MC into a V1 WMC, I already have three 2% cards (NFCU Flagship, Citi DC, and Cap1 Venture) and another 1.5% card (NFCU cashRewards), losing .25% cash back on a card that is mostly sock drawered (has some recurring charges sent to it every month) isn't going to bother me.
So yeah! I'm excited, I'll hopefully be able to convert it into a Quicksilver WMC in 6 months, right about the same time I'm able to get a CLI on both Cap1 cards, and do the account conversion.
Thanks again for the idea @happypill! Also, @SunriseEarth, are you gonna join us? If anyone wants the chat posted, I copy and pasted it before taking the survey...

Congrats Oz! I was able to get my QS MasterCard upgraded to a QS World MasterCard, but I had to do that through the EO! Your way was definitely more clever. Great job!

Congrats and thanks for telling us about your success!
My own Quicksilver One MasterCard has a steep AF ($79), and the last few years they've only agreed to waive half of it, meaning I still pay slightly more than a brand-new Quicksilver One account holder. Like you, I already have a Quicksilver Visa Signature and other rewards cards, so if they were to allow me to change to a no-AF Venture One it would be no great loss in rewards, but a nice savings right off the top for being able to avoid the AF.
I have considered combining the card with the QS Visa before the AF is due again, but the QS1 will be nine years old in the spring, and the APR is only 14.9% (that's not really important since I PIF, but it's nice to know it's there if needed), so I would prefer to keep it separate if possible. It looks like I might have found the way!
If you don't mind me asking, what's your credit line on the account? Some have told me I'll have more luck with a PC once the credit line is $3k (I'm at $2920), so I might be better off to wait until next month when I'm eligible for my next CLI.
Thanks again for sharing!

That is my plan, to PC my V1 WMC to QS WMC. IMHO, V1 is great as a new app, but not useful for my purposes otherwise. I may even PC the V1 VS to a QS VS. Ultimately, I aim to consolidate.
Congrats! I wish they would give me a World MC upgrade. Unfortunately, they always say check back in a few weeks. lol
I got my QS MC (which was an old Platinum 0 AF to start with) converted through EO (which I got through twitter) into a QS WMC. Not an easy job and definitely no APR reduction. Too much tooth-grinding for me to try again. At least for now.
But why would you PC from QS (unless paying fee) which gives 1.5% to a VentureOne which gives 1.25% and restricted to travel redemptions (or take half of that CB rate)? Isn't that a loss of rewards?
Is the Visa Sig benefit list big enough to cover that loss of rewards?
Congrats on your successful PC!
Congrats
I tried to get my QS to WMC and they kept screwing up and finally said no but offered me a Venture WMC instead.
Cap One is weird sometimes but they do treat me well overall.
