Paying your Cc’s (Debx)

Found a new app called Debx and have been using it for a bit now. It’s pretty freaking cool. It basically allows you to use all your CC’s as debit cards because ever purchase is paid off in full when it posts. You tell the app what amount you want to pay thing under... for instance any purchase under $100 is what I have listed.... and then you tell it what low balance in your checking account should stop paying. I have mine at $500. You link your cards and it is done. It’s worked great. Thought I would share for those who don’t like auto pay like me, and also for those who, again like me, like to pay off their balances to $0 before the statement cuts.

No, I have no affiliation with this. Just happened to find it on my iPhone... did some research on the security of it, and have been using it and wanted to share.

Re: Paying your Cc’s (Debx)

I was able to add Wells Fargo, HSBC, and Discover. Wasn't able to add PenFed. The app is cool, but still a little glitchy. It's been telling me "The data couldn't be read because it isn't in the correct format" when I try to look at Accounts (and doesn't show them). It says the same thing when I go back to Payments. It also had another error message but I can't remember it now. Was able to set up Touch ID, but it didn't prompt for it. They don't have an app for Android yet.

Makes no sense to me.  Probably good for someone who needs control over their spending or AZEO people.

I guess they will develop apps for anything.

Re: Paying your Cc’s (Debx)

Seems like it would create a large number of transactions to be reconciled, and that's too much work.

“User point matching query does not exist” is the other error I’m getting. Not sure if the app will work for me. It seems to be showing my checking balance at $0. Guess I will contact Debx and let them know.

Re: Paying your Cc’s (Debx)

I tried for a week or so and deleted it. They removed my info very fast after I emailed them. I think it is great for people like my father who still to this day says he just likes not having any debt and hates getting bills in the mail. (Yes.. he still gets paper bulls!!! Lol)
For people like me who does pay off their cards monthly but does it in 1-2 payments each month-and has no issues remembering to do so.... it’s kind of pointless.
The app has an audience but it is not me. Happy I posted it if someone in here does find it useful tho.

Re: Paying your Cc’s (Debx)

Contacted DebX support and emailed them several times. First they said they would contact their data partner and now they are ignoring me. Bank account still reporting $0 balance in Debx. Even though I’ve relinked credit cards twice, balances are not updating. App is very buggy, I would wait for them to do serious updates before trying to use.

Re: Paying your Cc’s (Debx)

Signed up for this yesterday.  My mom is using a similar app called Debetize.  Both are free and an interesting way to keep cards paid utilization low.

Re: Paying your Cc’s (Debx)

Just a PSA to remind all that doing this negates one of the advantages of a credit card, being able to float with the issuers money.   If you really want to give this up, fine, but remember that this has a real value.
