Paypal Smart Connect Backup Funding Issue

I have my smart connect as back up funding of my pay pal debit card and use it alot with no problem. Then today I go to buy breakfast and it gets declined. I check my paypal account when I get home and a purchase I made Friday is sitting in the negative in my paypal account and smart connect wasnt even used. I checked my backup funding method and it still has smart connect linked. Anybody else having this issue? Is paypal not letting us link this together anymore?

Hmmm...thats very strange. I jused used my Paypal Business Debit card to buy tires on my Paypal Smart Connect account and it worked as backup funding just fine...contact Paypal maybe?

so is basically your paypal smart connect almost like a visa card now?  If you use your paypal debit card, and its funded from your smart connect  then its basically like you used the smart connect as a mastercard/visa then?  I think i just answered my question....

Yeah that appears to be how it works...get 1% cash back as well im assuming also. Im not positive because i just got it but it seems to work that way! :-)

I had the same problem. The paypal rep stated this was a known issue and he authorized the negative balance to be paid by the sc account. Just give them a call.

Yes, Smart Connect is a line of credit that you can use as backup funding on a PayPal debit card.  As has already been mentioned, you get 1% cash back every statement cycle.  They are pretty good with auto CLI as well.  At least they are with me.

So I sent PP an email yesterday and got a call back today. Rep stated there was a glitch in system and this was happening to a lot of people but it should be fixed already, which it is cause I tried it at Mcdonalds this morning and I had no issues. I think someone else also stated this was the issue earlier in the post. I depend heavily on my SC because it has one of my largest CL's and if a place doesnt accept my AMEX this is my next go to so I was getting panicky. Glad it was a system error and not a change. :-) 

PS I get the 1% cash back on all my SC purchases that I run through my debit card as well for those who were wondering.

This is a nice way to use Smart Connect with the debit card because I get those offers like $10 statement credit when spent $50 hopefully it works that way as well

I just got approved for smart connect. I was wondering if it could be used somehow in conjunction with my paypal debit mastercard...but when I called paypal the woman there told me it can only be used for online purchases. I did set my smart connect as the back up funding source for my debit card though. Kind of afraid to try it. But I am seeing plenty of other people here doing it and it seems to work.
