I see on the balance transfer checks that you can write it to yourself. Can you also write it to another person? I read on these boards that you cannot deposit it into your penfed account so if thats my only account... =)
Thank you myfico friends!
You can write it to yourself, you can write it to another person, you can write it to a lender.
Good luck!
If you really want to know whether you can write the check to yourself and deposit to your PenFed checking, best to call PenFed and ask that question. It's one of those cases where they will see ALL the details so best to be above board with them, rather than "sneaky smart" with info from amateurs.
Is your objective a true balance transfer to pay off a non-PenFed card, or is the objective to obtain a cash advance?
ps: Chase is constantly giving me offers of $200+ to open a checking account with them. That may be a good avenue to follow.
@NRB525 There are no attempts to be "sneaky smart", as Penfed states on the check attached FAQs you can write it to yourself.
I wouldn't have thought it possible, but Penfed offers the information WITH the checks.
My only confusion came from a post whereiin someone states not to write it to a penfed account.
I don't see how this would actually be an issue.
Thanks =)
Ok, but you want to know a specific scenario where you deposit a BT check from a card at PenFed into a checking account at PenFed. Presuming you do that, it's not at all a secret to them what is going on. In normal balance transfer situations we can never BT from a card in one bank ( any bank ) to BT the balance to another card issued by the same bank.
PenFed may have no issue at all with you depositing this check in your PenFed checking account. My point is, only PenFed can tell you if it is acceptable or not, so my suggestion is to ring them up to ask the question directly.
