Has anyone ever had Penfed shut down a card because they discovered it was approved as part of an app spree?

I would like to apply for the Penfed platinum rewards card this fall and I was contemplating wether I want to do a mini app spree (2 maybe 3) but I've recently read that they will use pyramiding debt as a reason to shut down your card of you open too much credit in a short period of time.

I got my PenFed AMEX in June, 2012 as part of a 5 card app spree, and they haven't shut mine down. YMMV

I just opened 5 accounts on 3-13, and got over 67k in new credit. I hope not, but I guess I will see in the coming months.

I opened my PenFed Travel Rewards card at the same time as 2 others (AmEx Zync and Discover Miles) and they didn't shut me down. In fact this year (a little over a year since I opened the card) they gave me a pre-approval for an increase on my credit line!

Starting Score (07/2011): EQ 706 TU 709
Current Score (6/2013): EQ 740 TU 732 EX 740
Goal Score: 750+ on all 3
