Please post Duck card denials

I applied for the Duck card late last year (October) and was denied due to delinquency within the past 24 months.  This was from a chargeoff from 2008 that was settled in October 2012.  To make a long story short, I would like to keep up with any Duck denials because my plan is to apply again in November 2014.  I have since my denial added about $22,000 to my portfolio, but I'm still longing for that Duck card.  There are plenty approved for the Duck/Beaver cards, but few posts regarding denials.  If you would, please posts denial reason and your stats (I was denied with EQ FICO 686 with 1 baddie within 24 months).  This will be a good way for those of us who may be on the borderline of approval to make an informed decision on whether to apply or not.  Thanks in advance for any posts.Smiley Embarassed

Re: Please post Duck card denials

The problem is (I think) there does seem to be "two tiers" OCCU uses. You have a bunch of people who have FICO's 700+ ans no baddies get $10000 (and those who are super-prime get 15k or 20k. Then there are a bunch who get "toy" limits- $500/1000/2500 who did have baddies and scores below 700. I've seen a few $5l or 7.5k's but not many. So if you are marginal, you might be one of those who gets the toy limitm which pretty much does away with the advantages of the Duck Card.

@otter69,

You're right in your assessment.  I was one of the early app's before any denials where made public so I think this thread can help those of us (excluding you since you're already in) who may be considering apping to make an informed decision.  I also would like to keep up on the company's perceived underwriting strategies so I can possibly submit later in 2014.  Thank you for your information and feel free to keep us posted with any information that you come across.

Re: Please post Duck card denials

Looking at your signature, I would have thought you would have been a shoe-in for the Duck Card. It's interesting how so many CC companies all look at the same data, but come up with different determinations of someone's creditworthiness. Sometimes it seems as if some of these companies don't "like" certain people. Of course, I know there is no "like" about it, but I've known people who could get any card by Amex or Chase they wanted, but Discover won't give them the time of day or people who mysteriously get CLI's from Cap One that no one else is able to get (without an EO move). This should be an interesting thread to see what makes OCCU tick...

Re: Please post Duck card denials

@otter69,

My siggy is a little deceiving as it relates to the Duck card.  All of these cards came since July 2013 so when I apped for the Duck card in October 2013, these cards were only three months old with the exception of Barclays which I got in March 2013.  I'm sure that factored into the equation in my case.  I had two USAA secured cards @ $5000 each when I apped for the the Duck card, but both of these have been closed since then.  I guess I really don't need the Duck card with my present cards considering that I hope to do the 3x cli with Amex (BCE) in March and in July 2014 I'll be asking USAA for a cli in my Visa (7000).  Who knows if these both come to fruition, I may not do the Duck in November 2014, as I'll be up to ask for another Amex 3x cli again (BCP).  That's a lot of credit which for the most part I'm not using.  It just feels good to have it.  Currently I have $58,400 accumulative credit limit with a total balance across all accounts of $1,270.  I was surprised at Amex approval right out of the gate.  No recon or hassle on any of their cards.

Re: Please post Duck card denials

Just received my letter from OCCU.

I was approved for the DUCK card for 2.5k

They pulled my equifax which was at 657.

I had one satisfied judgement reporting from 2010 and two charged off leased vehicles from 2008.

Hope this information is useful.
