Thanks for reminding me that it is a Quicksilver One MasterCard. I'll just request for an upgrade to a regular Quicksilver One Mastercard when the time is near.
You're welcome. You want to upgrade it to a regular QS. Don't ask for another QS1. Also, check your account because there could be an upgrade offer available for it online.

Do they even have a regular Quicksilver MasterCard without the "One"?
Yes. They offer a regular QS MC. I have one which was upgraded from the QS1.

I don't see a Quicksilver MasterCard application though. The only card that appears in the search engine is the Quicksilver One Mastercard. I had PC'd a Capital One Platinum card MC ($19 AF; no cash back rewards) through an online rep; he upgraded it to the Quicksilver One Mastercard. I asked him that I didn't want an annual fee but he declined. This occurred a month ago.
[edited] Okay, a regular QS MC; I guess next time I'll be more persistent with online chat.

I have an old QS1 Visa (everyone here seems to have MC) and they always tell me there are no offers available. It's my oldest card so I don't want to close it, but geez...
I had the same problem with them. You could always apply for another product, wait the 6 months, and combine the two.
I closed my account because I couldn't get them to remove the $5 monthly fee. Of course, this was before we could combine accounts. Best of luck!

I'm certain I'd be approved for an extremely high limit no AF card now, but if I combined wouldn't I lose the date of my old card? If there is a way to keep my original card date I'd be ecstatic. I've got the HSBC/Orchard card if that makes a difference. Company was purchased by Cap1.

Interesting... I just checked too and I don't see it. Honestly, I can't remember if there was ever an application for it. If someone else remembers please chime in. However, I know beyond a shadow of doubt that said card did exist because I own one.
If you can't get Cap1 to permanently remove the annual fee you have to 2 choices (1) close the account or (2) combine the limit with your other Cap1 credit card.
SN: I don't know how to black out information and add pictures to the forum. If I did, I would take a picture of my card. Best of luck!

Yes. You would lose the original start date because I'm assuming your reason for the combo would be to get rid of the annual fee.
The only person that can decide if paying an annual fee is worth not closing your oldest account is you. My credit profile supported it. Honestly, even if my profile had not supported it, I still would have closed the account. I tried several times (over the span of 2 years) to get them to remove the monthly fee. Cap1 would not budge on the issue. They kept telling me to apply for another product and close the original account. I closed my account and did not apply for another product. I even told the rep to remove me from their solicitation list. I haven't received any mail from Cap1 since.
You have to weigh the pros and cons for yourself. Cap1 has some products that won't upgrade. Maybe yours is one of them. I don't remember a QS1 visa, but prior to last year I didn't know a lot about credit either. I had been gardening and didn't know it. Best of luck!
SN: I allow my dollars to speak for me. If it's not important for a company to keep my business, I move on.

Thanks for your input. I'll see if I can get the fee waived next year and then decide. I was also suggested to app for another card. I know I can get another Cap1 product, but like you the whole thing kind of turns me off to them. If they could explain why perhaps it wouldn't seem so bad. The card is in the SD for now. It's serving a purpose for my daughter who I added as an AU to help boost her scores.

Just go onto chat and ask them to permanently remove the fee. I had a QS 1 and asked at 6 months and did agreed to no more fee. They do not issue you a different card, they just waive the fee for good. I can't remember if one is a MC and one is a VIsa, I forget, but they do not have to issue a new card or change to QS regular.
