Though I don't shop at wally world any longer, I wouldn't mind being approved for their card some day, so that I can take advantage of the score.
What do they typically want to see in a credit file, or should I say, what do they NOT want to see.

I was checking out and already had a credit card on file that I use on this site...but I wanted to change it to another one, so once I clicked that some sort of advertisement popped up offering "spend $100 get $20 back" so I clicked that and it was the Credit Card Application and at the top it said "MY NAME....you have been pre-approved for a Walmart Credit Card" and it had most of my information pre-fillled in for me. I think I just to add my phone number. Nothing else such as social security, income etc. So I'm figuring that were working off the pull they did on me back in Jan. Hoping!! LOL! But I will find out in the morning when and if I get an Alert. My Equifax Alerts are always right on time! I've never had a problem with them. Like clock work...the day after I've applied for credit..BOOM the next morning around 7:30-8:00 a.m. I get an Alert. MY FICO has not been like that...but it hasn't bothered me much since I have the Equifax alerts as well.

Would love to know if there's a way to see about pre approval without buying something.
I actually didn't have to purchase anything to to find out. I think it's connected with the offer they were advertising "Spend $100 get $20 Back:..I think if you click that the way I did, it will lead you to the app were you will see "Pre-Approved" at the top. That's how it happened for me. I was trying to change my cc information, and saw that offer advisertized, I clicked it out of curiousity and saw the "Pre approved messaged.
Congrats! That's great. Do you know what your CL is? With your TU FICO over 700, I couldn't imagine that you'd be denied. But then with credit, one never knows! ![]()

Back in Jan. when I was denied, I had a pretty good FICO score, but not much credit that had reported to my credit report at the time I applied. I was denied due to lack of credit history...at that time I only had a Cap. 1 and Macy's cc on my file. Today, I have 5 cc's and very low utilization (9%) and never paid late not once, and my FICO scores are fair. The two dings so to speak I have on my credit is inquiries...about 7 or 8. Now maybe 9 if Wal-Mart did a hard pull, and AAoA. Nothing that time and patience can't heal.

Hi bichonmom!! My CL is $700! Not a huge amount but hey....It's a start! I won't complain! By the way, the Pre-Approval stated the CL at the top along with the "You have been Pre-Approved" for a Walmart Credit Card" and then it said CL $700" so I knew that before hit the submit button which was nice. Oh and the immediately add the new cc to my account so I could use it right away.
Nice starting CL. They only started me out at $300 in November. They denied all of my CLI requests (when they were still doing online) and then surprised me with an auto-cli at the beginning of Feb to $1k. You're gonna love getting the monthly FICO! (At least I do.

Yes, that was actually helped my decision to hit "submit' because I had read on here about the free TU FICO Scores each month!!! I'm really happy about that!
And surprised CLI's are always great!!!
Congatulations
