Preparing to app for a 2nd Chase Card - need suggestions

Hello all,

It's been a wonderful credit journey in the past 18 months, largely thanks to the suggestions MyFico members had given. Let me start with a thanks to all here. Have got decent limits, consolidated Cap One QS and QS1 cards for a real good CL, have used credit wisely, zero missed payments, less than 20% util across the board but my AAoA is bad - 10 months. Closed some unwanted/unproductive cards and use all the cards and keep a tracker of how much I spend, when's a card due, enable auto payments, etc - practically everything to ensure I do not repeat my 2008 blunders.

Currently have a Chase Amazon card, have held it for close to a year now. Come July end, 7 of my EX inquiries will celebrate anniversary (of the total of 11). I had gone on an app spree in July 15 and was largely successful. Another sore point (want to be frank here) is that United offered me the Mileage Plus Card and was rejected twice by Chase in the last year due to high number of inquiries.

Given that history, questions I have now:

1. With the 7 EX inquiries completing 12 months in July, will it help my chances with Chase? Would August / Sept 16 be a good time frame to app?

2. I have Marriott and United cards in mind. With the previous rejections in United, will I stand a better chance for Marriott?

3. Any other Chase card I can go for, with my score nearing 700? By July and with inquiries falling off and Cap One CLI and consolidation showing up, I expect to hit 710 or 715.

Just to mention, I'm not interested in any other card, except the targeted Chase ones.

Any and all suggestions welcome.

I guess my first question is why do you want a Chase card specifically?

Most of the advice I have learned here says that you would be better off deciding what kind of benefits you want, then find a card that best matches those.

That being said, the Freedom seems like a good starting off point if you just want to build a relationship with Chase and save some money while you're at it.

*EDIT*

Did you check Chase's prequalify page yet?

I'm not a big fan of Chase but the cards I want (Marriott and United) are with Chase and I don't have a choice. I travel and stay in hotels a lot. The reason for Marriott is I'm already a Gold member and can really use the 80K initial offer. On the United, intention is to become a Silver member and the card helps here.

Did check the Chase pre-qualify offer. Response was -

"We are unable to locate any offers for you at this time.

This may be because you have opted out of "prescreened" offers from Chase and other companies or you have recently responded to another offer from Chase."

Freedom is good but have QS and it's doing wonders to me...kinda loyal to Capital One for now....

How many inquiries did you have, and how recent were they, when Chase previously declined your United apps?

Applying again too early and getting nothing but the same response and another EX inquiry isn't going to help.

I don't know if Chase's credit standards are different for Marriott than for United.

My last Chase United denial was Jan 16. At that time, I had 11 inquiries in last 12 months (as per EX). Of the 11, 7 are going to fall off in July and hence my thought of better prospects....

Don't want another rejection and hence going slow and informed Smiley Happy

Hard pulls stay on for two years, not one. Inquiries from July 2015 will be older by August 2016, but will not have fallen off. Some lenders may not care about them since the inquiries are older (I don't know about Chase), but all lenders can still see them.

Yes, I'm aware that the HPs stay for 24 months but as per my previous denials, I'm sure Chase is considering only 12 months. I still have few months left to app, let me see how the score increases by then and take a decision.
