Problem with chase cc

Herer is the story, i was in the process of rebuilding my credit, so i asked my aunt to make me an authroized user on her chase freedom cc which she did about a year ago, i got into a fight with her and havent spoken to her in over 9 months, last week i get a letter from a collection agency saying that i owe them about $19,000, so i call chase and say why am i responsible if i am only an authorized user, they tell me that i am not  i am a joint applicant, but i didnt sign any paperwork for a joint app as i know you need to sign some kind of paperwork.  I did recieve a cc in my name. Is chase telling me that i am a joint applicant because they cannot find my aunt i guess shes doing some kind of debt consolidation, but imdo not want to be liable as i only asked to be an authorized user i didnt sign any paperwork to becomr a joint applicant, now it is showing up on my credit report, someome please help me, can i call chase and tell them this is fraud as i didnt sign no papers to be a joint applicant???

One would most likely need to file an ID Theft report with the police in order to get this cleared up. That is up to you to decide as it most likely would result in some un pleasant things for your aunt. One does not need to sign anything for a joint applicant these days online or by phone.. I would demand written proof from Chase though that you are in fact a joint owner, you can also verify this by the way the account is reporting on your CRs.

Re: Problem with chase cc

Also if i do call chase and demand a fraud investigation what are the chances that they will remove me from this account?

Re: Problem with chase cc

1. have you pulled your credit report and seen rather the account shows "joint" or "Authorized User or Additional User" under the notations?

2. I REALLY think Chase stopped allowing joint applications OVER a year ago so I think you are fine.

3. if you can confirm that you are just showed as authorized user just simply submit a dispute through each credit report agency (Experian, Equifax, Transuion) to delete the account from your record as it is not yours (usually takes 1-2 days)

4. you should be able to get the reports for free through each agency for adverse recent actions on your credit reports.

lets step back from a fraud investigation and such right now until we confirm rather this is a joint account

Re: Problem with chase cc

If it is fraud and is a joint account I would call the police, chase, and the CRAs in that order. She charges 19k and is nowhere to be found? Seems like she conned her own nephew
Jaguar F-Type R Loan 50K Balance
Goldman Sachs Signature Loan $29,000 TU 750 score pulled at time of loan.
Student Loan Debt $1,500
Credit Card Debt $300 1>% of $166,700
FAKO Transunion 723 Equifax 744
What's in my wallet? Chase Sapphire Reserve, Chase Freedom Unlimited, and AMEX Blue for Business

Like creditaddict said, get a copy of your credit report first.

If it's indeed a joint account, then file identity fraud.

Re: Problem with chase cc

I pulled a CR from experian, it doesnt say anything about joint or autherized user, it just says, chase, the account number, the balance, the past due amount, date opened which was 1997, but i was added in 2013, account status is closed, payment status is charge-off, limit $17,000, terms revolving and comments it says "credit line closed grantor request reported bt subscriber" and thats it, and in sept 13 it started to be 30 days late, oct 60 days, nov 90 days, dec 120 etc...

thats all it says on my credit report, i know for a fact i never signed any paperwork, i know when you want to be added as a joint, they have to send you an application, for me and the primary to sign, which i never recieved no application nor did i sign anything, but this is in collections right now thats how i found out about it.

should i just start disputes with all 3 Credit agencys?

What does it say under "responsibiility"?

For instance, if you are AU, it should state: Authorized user.

If it's a joint account, it will state: "Joint with XXXXXXXXXX"

If the account is under your name only, it will state "individual".
