Question about Macy’s CLD

I was hospitalized and missed my payment date for Macy’s I just remembered and it is 10 days past due. I made the payment but now I am stressing about if they will lower my credit limit. I have a credit limit on the platinum card for $25,000 and only have $2,000 balance on it. Does anyone know if they will lower my limit? I’ve had this card about 4 years and this is the first time I’ve ever been late. My credit scores are 750 across the board. This is my only store card the rest of my credit cards are

Chase freedom $4,500 -$80 bal
NFCU rewards $25,000-$3,000 bal
NFCU platinum $24,000-$3000 bal
AMEX BCE $40,000-$400
Discover IT $12,000-$3,000 bal
Macy’s Amex $7,000-$50 bal

I make all my payments on time but I am nervous about the late payment. They told me it hasn’t been reported to the credit agency’s yet and won’t be.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Re: Question about Macy’s CLD

It's difficult to predict how a lender's internal algorithm would react. It's fairly possible it *could* happen, but by the same token, it may be left intact. All you can do is monitor your online account to see if anything changes.

I think the most important thing is your health and recovery from such a recent hospital visit. So, if a CLD occurs, that would be last thing on my mind, but all things considered, the CL can be restored.

Re: Question about Macy’s CLD

Many years ago I paid my Macys a few days late a couple of times I think. I've had it since 1995. I had 1k limit and they lowered it to $250. They eventually raised it again and it was never 30 days. So they can but I doubt they will for one infraction.

Re: Question about Macy’s CLD

They told me to call back on Wednesday and speak with someone to see if they will lower it. But idk if I should call and out a spotlight on it if that makes sense

Thank you for the response. I would hope they would be a little more forgiving but it’s hard to say.

Re: Question about Macy’s CLD

There are alot of other factors that go into an AA decision

How old is the accont?

First missed payment ?

Any returned payments?

Your current debt situation ( currently $12k ish ) Tnats alot

I would give them a call and explain why you missed the last payment and see if they will waive any late fee

>3/2016 EX 644 CK-TU 642 CK-EQ 660 WalMart- 671.
>5/2025 All 3 reports 845 - 850(F8) F9s = all 850 but my app finger is still twitching

Re: Question about Macy’s CLD

The account is about 4years old.
No returned checks
It’s my first missed payment
The 12k seems a lot but my income is over 100K and my debt to income ratio is completely low with having over 100K in open revolving credit

Re: Question about Macy’s CLD

If you have the means to pay off that debt i would. With that kind of income, try and make a pif mentality the norm. A Macys store card isnt meant to carry balances, at a 26% apr +. Why pay interest when uou dont have to. For sure the late will be internalized but good thing it wasnt 30 days. Life happens and they know it. Just my average penny.

Re: Question about Macy’s CLD

Thanks for your penny but I wasn’t inquiring about how to handle my debt, I was asking about if anyone knew what Macy’s would do with my one time late payment since this is the first time this has happened. Please don’t take this response as rude (that’s not my intent) I just don’t want others coming behind you to tell me about what I should do with my debt when that wasn’t what I was inquiring about. I appreciate your help tremendously.
